**Q: Our exterior walls are 9". How long are these?**
A: These are for up to 9.5" walls. You can purchase a 6" extension tube if you need more

**Q: how to use open and close mechanism?**
A: There is a string on the unit (pictured) which you pull to open and close.

**Q: will it let air also be pulled out of your house?**
A: This is a passive unit. When opened, there will be a hole in your wall with slight resistance from the grill side and a filter on the interior. The Fresh 100 can move roughly 40 CFM of air. 
Short answer is yes, but will be minimal without some sort of pull or direct breeze. It is intended to provide makeup air when a house is too tight and a fan is pulling air in a kitchen or bathroom.

**Q: Is there a way to get and replace the filters?**
A: Yes for both, but not on Az.
Type fresh 100 filter in google and there are some stores selling replacement filters and they will help you on changing instructions.
