Cookie's Week Paperback – Picture Book, June 16, 1997

Read this to my kids, and now reading it to my grandkids! Great book!

Cookie's Week has been a favorite of ours since we purchased our first copy through a Scholastic book sale more than 10 years ago. This is the delightful story of a kitten named Cookie who gets into mischief each and every day. The text is simple and repetitive. Each day stars with: "On (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...), Cookie (falls into the toilet, knocks a plant of the windowsill, climbs the curtains...)". And then continues, "There was (water, dirt, clothes, garbage...) everywhere!" This repetitive format of the book makes it wonderful for toddlers and preschoolers who will quickly learn to "read" the book on their own. The simple text and bold, fun illustrations keep kids and adults alike smiling and wanting to see what Cookie will do next, even when they've read the story 50 times before. Although we've had this book memorized for years, we never seem to tire of it. This story is requested frequently at bedtime. Our older two boys are now reading it to our third and fourth child. Our most recent purchase of this book was to give as a gift to a young lady turning four. I purchased the paperback version. It's a small, square book, maybe 7x7 in size... which again, makes it perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.

My mum read this to me when I was a child. I recently searched it out for my own kiddo. It’s perfect! The art is, of course, gorgeous. The story is short and sweet. And the words are all at an early reader level.

My students love when I read this book! I have a tuxedo cat so I say Keke’s week just to make my kids laugh!

My two boys love this book and always laugh no matter how many times we’ve read it. It’s a great book for early readers as well.

This is one of my girls FAVORITE books. She absolutely loves it. I have an original of this book from the 80's. The reprint has all the colors looking faded and the blacks are black and everything is too yellow. A shame they can't print in as vivid as colors.

I love this book. I purchased it as a gift for someone I know who willlove it too. The only problem is that when I received the book, the front coverof this paperback book was bent in a very obvious way. And this was supposedto be a gift? I wish that Amazon would replace it by sending me another copy.I can only hope.

This book will put a smile on the face of all readers young and old. It is simply told and eloquently illustrated.

As soon as I started reading this book to my three year old he love it. The first sentence made him laugh. That's good enough for me.
