Rust Treatment, 1 Qt Btl, Opaque

This is the ONLY stuff for treating rusted metal (also a matching Henkel product- just match the 75430 number). I used this decades ago working on cars, where I would then apply glass cloth/polyester resin/bondo over the area for rust repair (when I was young and poor and couldn't afford new metal...!). It helped the repairs last much longer. I am now repairing a rusted storm culvert on my pond, and tried a number of products from HD and Lowe's that were a complete waste of time. For best results, knock/scrape/wire brush loose rust and layered scale off the area to be repaired, and use a motorized wire wheel to really get down to it. Clean the area with solvent like enamel reducer, lacquer thinner or Xylol before applying- this is a water-based product so it can be repelled by dirt, oil or grease. You'll see those little divots as you apply it- just keep working the material, it'll cover. Use two coats. Bless Amazon for making the real thing so easy to find, and easy to get.

We used this product in the paper manufacturing industry on rusted/ corroded internal components of process equipment. It reacts with (rust) to form a tough primer coating and cleans up with water. Extend performs well. It’s not “cheap” but worth the money. I had to have some at home so I found some on Amazon. I’m sure that other similar products are available, but I know that this product can withstand the harshest conditions.

This is a good product at a reasonable price. Easy to apply and as advertised converts rust to a stable platform that can be painted directly. I had a couple of rust pockets at the lower edge of a pickup truck, after applying this product I was completely comfortable that the rust was stabilized. I applied some Bondo over the area because some metal was missing. A great repair, in which I am confident will last for years.

This liquid is nothing short of amazing at stopping rust and putting a black coating on rusted metal, that can be painted over if needed. One word of caution, i would wear some type of latex gloves while using this product, If you get it on bare skin, it will trun anything it touches to black Neat impossible to get off. I used this lquid in restoreing a rare car and used close to two gallons on the frame and interior body panels that had been sandblasted. As far as i know the rust has never came back, that was 30 years ago.

I tried some of the other products, Marine Jelly etc and was disappointed. This product is a bit more expensive, but I found it to be superior in its attack on existing rust and ability to stabilize the surface and prevent further oxidation.

This product was absolutely wonderful. I recently purchased a 99 Explorer. I didn't notice the extent of the rust below the doors. I had used something similar to this years ago and it was pretty good. But, this product is far superior. Don't waste your money on the other products for rust treatment. This is awesome and dries faster than others. I did end up putting two coats on and am glad I did. Excellent product. Highly recommend.

Always liked this stuff - even when it used to be called Duro Extend. If you follow the instructions, it does indeed seem to convert rust (on steel) to an inert black substance that you can then prime and paint. And for as long as I've used it, the corrosion doesn't come back easily. (Remember, rust never sleeps, so it will eventually come back pretty much no matter what product you use.I should note that my experience with the clear aerosol version of this product is pretty dismal. For whatever reason, it just doesn't seem to work as well as the white, milky liquid in the non-aerosol version here.

I've used this for years on rusty metal. Especially on cars. I've tried others but keep going back to this. Got tired of paying ridiculous prices for a tiny bottle. Now I got one big bottle for the price of 2 or3 tiny bottles.

I bought some of this 2 years ago and just ran out. Used it on rusty panels on a 1954 Chevy that really should have been sandblasted but 4 years after treating the rust with this stuff and not a blister in sight. Excellent product. I even use it to restore old antique iron items. Leave a bit of rust then coat with this, it's sealed, almost black but still looks like iron instead of the common mistake people make of spraying them black. Leaves it looking old but still like rought iron

I just bought this 4 weeks ago, `i` used it on my ride on mower deck. All you have to do is clean as much as possible take big flakes out and lose rust. use wire brush to finish but don`t go to steel Used air compressor to rid of rust & dust out, I use paint tiner to clean the deck of surface rust & dust . let it dry a bit. Just b4 applying locktite I used a small plumbers propane tank to get sweat out of metal . caution heat & move heat at all time, Had heat in my garage it was -5celcius outside but 70 fairenheit in my garage. put 1 rst coat on 20 minutes later 2nd coat . no sanding needed between coat unless you want to fill small small holes putty or wtv. waited 1 hour sprayed a good coat of primer & finally 1 hour latter put a good coat of tremclad. It look awesome , all black no rust its been 2 weeks now still all black. I can write another one next year for sure .I recommand it. between coat just read for their steps Im just go by my sense. I just want it to dry very good in between coat. note you want to put putty after 2nd coat if you do small fix on cars sand with 350 & up grit sand paper so you dont take loctite out .

Excellent product. I test tried it on a couple of small rust spots on our trailer and was very impressed with it. It slowly converted the area to a nice dark black. It looks new again. I like that is is water based, so pouring it and using it was simple. My brush and container cleaned up very quickly using just soap and water. I highly recommend it and the seller :)

Applied as per instructions, will see how it fears out after the winter.Blessings.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet but has great reviews. Bottle is a large quantity. I trust the Lok-tite brand.
