Works but be careful
I was all set to return it because there was no instructions. But then I looked on you tube and was able to figure it out. It takes a few times to get it right (I split one ring but it was an old one that I was practicing on) It ended up working so I kept it. Warning: be careful not to hit it to hard. Slow and steady wins the race

Might want to pass on this - Design flaw
This ring stretcher appears to be made of fairly soft metal, easily deformed when pounding it with a mallet. The tapered metal shaft appears to be a bit too fat in diameter to plunge fully into the outer section. As a consequence, when stretching a ring, it will plunge only halfway in. This is a problem because without specialized tools, it will be nearly impossible to tap it out and separate it from the outer section.Other Rathburn resizers appear to use a more appropriate taper on the inner metal shaft so when it has been tapped into the outer section / fully engaged, the end will protrude sufficiently from the other side to make it an easy tap out. I would definitely avoid this one unless you have a bench vise to secure the ends and separate the two pieces apart.

Did the job
Paid for itself in one use. Stretched a 10k gold wedding band enough to fit better. Don't have a ring sizer so can't say for sure how much it stretched, maybe half a size. Also restored roundness. Obviously not for rings with stones or intricate weak spots.Comes with a nylon base which seems more durable than the wood base pictured. Videos on YouTube show how to use it, but it's not difficult to figure out just looking at it. You'll need a mallet or small hammer or something to tap on it.

Works like a champ
Stretched a man's fairly thick silver ring from an 11 to a 12 and enlarged several ladies rings 1/2 size or so lol perfectly. I had a tiny jeweler's hammer but bought a fairly large plastic hammer for the men's ring as the smaller one just couldn't cut it.

Item received nothing at all like what was described and depicted.
I had to select a "star rating" to submit this comment, but zero stars is appropriate. I received a small zip lock baggie with a white plastic ring! Are you kidding me Amazon! Who checked this shipment?

Limited portable use
This works, and with a bit of effort. But the savings in expense over a standard stretcher/reducer is just not worth it. This doesn't get you much better stretching than just hammering a coin (coin ring) on a jeweler's mandrel.A good item to have when you are at a craft or trade show, but general everyday use is limited.
