Works great as an ash bucket.
What can I say, its an ash bucket, and it works great as an ash bucket. The lid fits tight and keeps messes to a minimum, and the handle is comfortable. I like that the shovel conveniently attaches to the side. I would like to note that the metal is very thin so I personally wouldn't trust putting any hot coals in here. I would also like to add that this does not work great to shovel coal into a coal stove, as I have bent and nearly snapped the handle of my shovel, however I'm still rating this 5 stars because it's labeled as an ash bucket for ash removal and not for adding coal to a stove.

Excellent Ash Bucket for the Fireplace
This black ash bucket is sturdy and attractive. It is nice enough to place in the great room next to the fireplace so we can use it to regularly remove ashes. No more mess!! My husband loves it. It comes with a small shovel that is the perfect size for ash removal. We highly recommend this item for anyone with a real fireplace or wood stove.

Looks good, does its job - is on the thin side
We use this bucket each and every day with our fireplace. The small shovel/dustpan component is also used every time as well, as its perfect for scooping and slowly moving toward the bucket and slow dump the contents for minimal ash-dust, anywhere. Works great. The Lid is a must and it stays on there, even if carrying. Another unit we had the lid popped off but this guy stays together. The bucket is on the thin side and without the lid could become flimsy if rough-housed but then again, this does aide in it being very light to carry, even if completely full.Really like it - easy to use - convenient to manipulate operation. You would probably not be disappointed if you are looking to get the residual messy carbon out of the fireplace and outside for fertilization.

Simple, sturdy, large-capacity ash bucket
I really needed a "real" ash bucket, since I make a lot of fires in my woodstove and the ash really builds up in there. I was tired of using my large stewing pots for ash! This bucket is nice and plain and sturdy (I was looking for both). It's not heavy (empty). The shovel that comes with it is convenient, and it's well-designed: the scoop is broad and has flat edges that makes it very easy to pick up a large volume of ash at once. The "holster" for the shovel is also really nice. The two things that are issues (albeit very minor ones) for me are its size (it's BIG - 13" dia at the top x 13" tall) and how the lid doesn't exactly lift off easily. If you have plenty of space on your hearth, go for it. If you have limited space, Measure first! Imagine a 13"x13" box sitting there. I'm not sure if the lid is support to have a "hitch" to it for safety reasons (ie, so that it can't tip over and spill hot ash out on your floor) or if I just managed to get a "hitchy" one. Arguably, it's going to be safer if the lid stays closed, but this lid has no particular safety closure (clasp, hook, etc). I don't have dogs or kids, so it's not an issue for me. Unless you're cramped for space, I highly endorse it!And of course... always empty your fireplace or stove when it's cool, and never assume there aren't any hidden hot coals in there!Hope this helps!

Top notch item. Must have for wood-burning stove
I bought my wood stove and felt I needed the ash pan included with that particular model. [The ash pan is a nuisance as it only fills when you pull out one of the bricks, which becomes really difficult to replace (you have to completely clean out all the ash)].Anyway, having the bucket allowed me to shovel out all the ashes (even at times when the fire was still going). The metal holds up well against hot ashes. It is large enough to hold ashes from constant fires for three, even four weeks while small enough to sit subtly beside the stove. The shovel is heavy enough to move logs (I used it as a poker/lever at times). Buying this probably saved me money because I didn't have to buy any other fireplace tools. Most definitely a must-have for anyone with a wood stove.

Good size. Does the job.
What I like: It has a lid. It's not too large so when it's full, I can carry it myself to dump it. It came with a small shovel with a storage pocket for it on the side of the pail. Simply, it does the job it is intended for. What I don't like: really can't think of anything. Oh, in a weird and perfect world, once you put ashes in there and close the lid, the ashes would transport to some black hole and I'd never have to find a place to dump it. Other than that, this is fine.

Perfect for by my outdoor firepit - probably a bit large for by an indoor fireplace
This bucket is perfect to keep near our outdoor firepit to scoop out the ashes. It is large, so for an indoor fireplace might not suit your needs unless you have a large hearth, but on an outdoor patio it is great. We had been lifting up the whole pit to dump it and I was tired of ending up covered in ashes so I finally decided to get a bucket and shovel for the task. This one is well mad and has been holding up to the elements well. It does what it should (it's a bucket that holds things and the scoop scoops). The holder for the scoop works well and keeps the entire ensemble looking nice. Not much more to say about it other than I would happily buy this again to fulfill any bucket/scoop needs

Does the job very well!
This can is larger than we expected and is working well for us. It did arrive with the handle on the lid bent in, but for us it didn't affect the performance of the product and was therefore not a negative factor. We have a wood stove insert, and this will hold all the ash from a 3-4 day burn easily whith plenty of room left over. We store it on the fireplace hearth and have no issues when we do have to transfer ashes either to the can or when removing the ashes to dump in our outdoor fire pit. Great product and value for the cost!

Looks good, well insulated, handy shovel.
Good capacity, so we don't have to empty it more than once every week or so. Having the little shovel on the side is super handy too - easier to use than the long-handled shovel that is part of our fireplace tools set. Looks great beside our wood stove. Overall, very good value for the price.
