Very pleased!
Write very nice, straight out of the package! The resin is a good weight posted and the right size even with my smaller hands. It's also super good looking. I like the slightly striated finish. There was another post complaining about the spot where the sticker was on the lid being a different color. I do have a bit of that almost like the pen faded a tiny bit while in storage but I've been just rubbing that area with my finger and it's almost gone. I'm pleased!

Punches above its weight, avoid included ink
The Kaco Edge is heavily influenced by one of the greatest pens of all time, the Lamy 2000. Its body is made of Makralon, an extremely durable and lightweight plastic, and has a pleasing brushed texture. It comes equipped with a Schmidt Medium Nib, which writes well, though it's revolutionary. However, at this price point, there are very few other pens that can compete when it comes to the quality of nib. Overall it's a great pen that could easily sell for $30-$60 if it were from a popular Western Brand. *Tip: The pen does NOT come with a converter, so unless you buy one (Schmidt International Converters are about $5 on Amazon) you'll need to use standard international ink cartridges. The pen comes with two unbranded black ink cartridges but you should NOT use them. The ink quality is some of the worst I've ever encountered. It is extremely wet and even on 120gm Leuchtturm paper, it feathers. As a result, this Extra Fine tip pen writes like a Medium or Broad if you use that terrible ink. Buying a converter and using your own ink OR using ink cartridges from a trusted brand should be considered a requirement with this pen.

No complaints
This pen is just as I expected it to be. The finish is nice and simple, not over the top. I got the fine point and have had no problems using it. To some left-handed people a fountain pen is a mess, but the ink dries fast, and I have yet to experience any smearing.

Disappointed in the Finish, it doesn't match.
The pen was supposed to be all black, but as you can see, the cap and barrel don’t match the dark black section. The pen doesn’t match the pictures in the ad. Later… I have carried this pen all day long, and have a much more profound respect for it that I did at 8 o'clock this morning. The biggest complaint that people have with his pen is the clip, I originally shared those thoughts. Now after having used it all day and broken the pen in, the clip is 10 out of 10. This clip will keep the pen securely in my shirt and will fit just about any shirt. Pushing on the back of the clip on the round and section, opens up the front, and just enough to one handedly, slide it into any shirt. If you will just use the pen, I think he will love it in short order. Now I just fix the color so that it matches the section like it did on my older version of this pen.

Aesthetics, Quality and Value
I've only recently discovered Kaco fountain pens for myself. Beginning with the Kaco Sky, Kaco Green... and now the Edge. So satisfying to hold and write with. There are pens I've paid much more for that don't measure up. Nice that it can be carried around everyday. Downside is that this set did not come with a converter.

Ink Spreads
I really want to like this pen but the ink spreads depending on the paper that I am using it on, I have 2 other fountain pens (different brands) and the ink does not do that.

Extra Fine Nib Writes Like a Broad
I like everything about this pen however this was supposed to be an extra fine nibs and it’s not. It writes thick which makes my writing sloppy. I’ll most likely use it for sketching. Someone mentioned that it’s not a black case. That’s true. It’s more of a matte dark charcoal and the feel of the cap and the body are a bit different in texture and shade. Overall I like the light weight feel in my hands but i keep the cap off so it’s lighter.

I like the nib
The nib is good, because it’s made in Germany. The clip doesn’t work good. I like Amazonbasic fountain pen more because it’s overall design is great
