I bought this to fit on my new ride-on lawnmower so that I can check how many hours I have used the mower for servicing purposes. I suppose the tacho feature might come in useful to check the engine speed during servicing but as I have had to locate the unit behind my seat I cannot see it whilst in use, this is NOT an issue with the unit more just an issue of what surface I could locate the unit on.

Excellent piece of kit to test/set the rpm on an engine. Just wrap the end wire around the spark plug lead (I do three turns) and run the engine, and it measures the rpm. For simple engines like mowers and two stroke garden machines it works straight out of the box. For more complex engines like multi cylinder cars/ motorcycles you will need to set the no of cylinders. Comes with a battery installed: don't forget to remove the polythene strip to connect the battery in the battery compartment.

I’ve bought two of these now, they’re extremely useful for keeping track of hours run and monitoring the RPM. Installation is nice and easy once you figure out the best place to mount it you can stick it in place with the velcro pads and run the wire into the engine housing. It’s trial and error to get the amount of turns right but very easy to do, one one of my engines three turns was good and on the other it needed one or two more. Then it’s just a case of selecting the correct setting in the menu for the engine and that’s it. They’re really well priced in comparison to some other brands and I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t be as good as more expensive brands.

The media could not be loaded.  So simple all you do is wrap the wire round the HT lead I have an RC boat with a 27cc race tuned engine in itI need to know the rpm exactly and it tells you how long the engines been running for so I can change the piston rings. Fantastic bit of kit

Wouldn't pick up a signal from the spark plug HT lead regardless of how many turns I put around it. I was trying to use it on a small outboard motor.

Added this to my new 9.9 Merc motor. I like the lit display which can also be turned off. You can also put it to sleep so the display blanks and saves power. BONUS is you can replace the battery.

ジャイロキャノピー４ストに取り付け。パルス信号はプラグコードに５回グルグル巻き付け問題なくタコメーターとして動いています。が、ジャイロキャノピー４ストは余りにも高回転（速度４５Kmで回転数７０００）でした。タコメーター取り付け前は速度５０Km超で巡行していたのでバイク壊れなくて良かった。これからはタコメーターの回転数を見ながら走ります。

For the price it is what I wanted, I use it for testing , good instructions .I would pay more for water proof and made for rough service.
