This is not an attic ladder alternative.
The title and description are misleading. This is not an alternative way to access your attic. This is a replacement that removes the access to the attic. This in fact is the opposite of a attic ladder, not an alternative.

misleading title and description
How is this an "Alternative to Attic Stair Ladders"? I guess if you consider the fact that attic stairs get you up from one level to the next and this does not. Sure, its an alternative. So is a tuna fish sandwich. This product may be good at insulating your house but does NOT allow you to easily move from one level to the next. A more appropriate title would be "DELUXE E-Z Hatch Attic Access Door R-50 - Alternative to the piece of drywall your builder put up there"

Easy to install....
Ordered from the manufacturer (cheaper that way) and it arrived in a few days...Very well packaged, so no damage during shipping...The hardest part about installing it was cutting the existing ceiling...We have a textured ceiling, so the stud finder was useless trying to locate a roof truss...Started with a small hole to find a truss, then cut over to that to get the measurements figured out...Once I got the drywall cut out (very messy with drywall dust and blow-in insulation raining down upon me), the rest of it was a breeze....Had my wife help lift and hold it in place while I ran a screw into each corner first, then a couple more on each side....Got the door into the frame and it looks like it was there all along!!...Very glad I went this route over a heavy ladder style door that's not insulated...

Attic hatch upgrade
Great for upgrading a plywood attic hatch to something insulative. Seems pretty durable. Great if you don't have space for a pull-down attic ladder or if your attic isn't designed for storage. Yes, it does require you to have a separate ladder.
