DeWalt 20V Compact Hammer Drill and Impact Combo Kit
I purchased this kit from Amazon around February of last year (2012). Having been a long time user of DeWalt tools I assumed they would be quality items as my past sets had been. The set hasn't dissapointed yet. The slide on batteries design is much improved over the previous design in my opinion. The amount of torque these tools can dish out combined with their suprising light weight allows me to do my job easier than my last Dewalt 18v XRP Hammer Drill did. I'm an electricain by trade and holding 6 or 7 pounds of drill over your head while mounting light and fan boxes all day isn't fun. The impact driver is my go to tool for this now and is much more managable. The drill has done a fine job for drilling holes up to 1 1/4" in wood and a few 1/2" holes in mild steel. Also for light duty hammer drilling in concrete. If you plan on heavy drilling use I would recommend a DEWALT DCB200 3.0 Ah 20V Li-Ion Premium Battery as the 1.5 ah battery included wont hold up to continuous heavy drilling. Now this set does not include the heavy duty model drill so it doesn't have quite the same oomph so to speak. It has plenty of power for most users professional or other wise, and what it lacks in brute force it makes up for with far better one handed maneuverability and far less fatigue from holding a much lighter tool. The battery life seems very good for 1.5 ah capacity. Charging batteries is very fast (around 25-30 minutes) and I have yet run one battery down before the other finsihed charging. Ergonomics are also much improved over the XRP drill I replaced do to the battery attachment method allowing a smaller and excellent pistol like grip design. My only complaints are:1. My impact driver gives off a slight smell of burning rubber during use. I assumed it would fade as the tool broke in but it hasn't. Haven't noticed any effect on performance in well over a year of use.2. The plastic outer sleeve on the drills chuck is prone to damage if rubbed against concrete or metal. But thats to be expected from the material so be careful. Again doesn't effect performance so it's not worth removing a star in my opinion. In conclusion I think the set contains excellent tools, batteries and much improved design over the last generation of tools. I highly recommend them to any one looking for this type of set.

Powerful and surprisingly very light
I bought this set from the warehouse deals section of amazon for a substantially lower price. I highly recommend warehouse deals and use it all the time. You can save some serious dough that way. Item was brand new and absolutely perfect in every way. Upon opening and messing with them, I immediately removed the belt clips from them, as I don't use them and feel they get in the way, your opinion may differ, just a personal preference. The first thing that you will marvel at is just how lightweight these really are. I really bought these on a whim, but had been wanting them for a while. I already own a handful of 18v Dewalt tools with the xrp battery system, which I know I love and use a bunch. I knew I wanted to transition to the lithium ion system but didn't want to retrofit my 18v nicads with li ion batteries with a substantial cost.I also know that I love li ion batteries having already owned Milwaukee's m12 system and couldn't be happier. Those batteries make these tools a complete force to be reckoned. These new tools are now the closest things to being like their corded brethren. You get the amazing power, rpms and torque of corded, with these amazing batteries that are like having a cord because they last all day. I'm sure that the fatter batteries are even better but only heavier. These will last all day for whatever you are doing and if you do need to recharge, it only takes 30 minutes to charge from dead. The charger also will charge Dewalt's 12v li ion batteries as well, which I do not have. The hammerdrill will absolutely twist your wrist depending on your bit, which means it has amazing power and torque. But by far the impact driver is my absolute favorite by far. I use it 90% of the time without hesitation. It's weight isn't much more than my m12 impact driver which is great. This 20v system is absolutely great and now they are finally offering bare tools as well, also a plus. This is my third impact driver having already the m12 impact, and a dewalt 18v impact. I would not trade these tools for anything and you would have to pry them from my hands. Nothing but good things to say. The only thing that irritates me is that these batteries nor tools have a battery gauge. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the m12 but that is something I wish these had. Do yourself a favor and try to pick one of these up in warehouse deals. I give my complete recommendation. Thanks for reading, and please vote as to the helpfulness of this review, Ray.

Good tools small issues
I have to start off saying that I have been pleased with all of my Dewalt tools. This one included. I own the corded drill too and really used that as a frame of reference. The set with two batteries and a charger is a great buy, which got me to buy it. I have had no troubles with the tools and they have performed flawlessly. I used the hammer drill function to drill several holes in concrete. The battery wore down in about 40 minutes of constant use. However, they recharge so quiickly that the other battery was recharged before I needed it. I will say there is quite a bit of run out on the drill. You will notice this when using long bits. Unless you are wanting to be super precise with your hole, it isn't a problem. (You probably should use your drill press instead.) These are quality tools and worth the price.
