Poignant, Soft and Engaging After the Happily Ever After for Anne
After the happily ever after for Anne and Gilbert. Gilbert finally has his dream come true in the beautiful red-headed wife with stars in her eyes as he brings her across the threshold of the lovely little house on the shore with its tradition of happy brides.Green Gables is no longer home, but Anne discovers a full life can be had in her little House of Dreams in Four Winds Harbor. Her nearest neighbors are the lighthouse keeper, Captain Jim Boyd, with his fine manners and captivating yarns, the man and methodist-despising Cornelia Bryan, and a gorgeous embittered Leslie Moore with a past as sad as they come, but all 'of the tribe who knows Joseph' as Miss Bryant would say for Anne's kindred spirits.I chuckled, I sighed, I cried and delighted in this place by the sea. It has been years since I first read it and had forgotten all the life lived in Anne and Gilbert's newlywed home. Did I hope that Anne would take up her pen to write Captain Jim's life story for him? Sure. And, I earnestly yearned for poor Leslie's hopes when handsome Owen Ford came to the shore for the summer. Not an Anne-ish scrape in the whole and somewhat muted when it comes to her personality, but still a solid and lovely story as told by the talented Susan O'Malley who narrated the story and cast of characters well.

love this series
The Anne of Green Gables books fueled my imagination. Anne's accomplishments and life story fueled my dreams and encouraged me to work hard and succeed. These books told me it was ok to have wild adventures and be mischievous and not always be perfect while showing me how to grow up to be a confident and intelligent woman. And this book was the loveliest of them all. I've read and re-read all of them countless times since I was a girl, but I'm re-reading this now in hopes that my first year of marriage will be as sweet and special as Anne and Gilbert's. L.M. Montgomery helped me see beauty and magic in the world, even in the commonplace, everyday things. Despite being set in a different era, these books are timeless. Anne is an enduring role model for all girls.

Anne and Gilbert, Together At Last...
"Anne's House of Dreams" is the fifth book in Lucy Maud Montgomery's superb "Anne of Green Gables" series. At long last, Anne and Gilbert return to Avonlea, she from three years as principal and teacher at Summerside, he from medical school, for a wedding among family and friends at Green Gables. They will begin their married life at the remote village of Glen St. Mary, in the seaside cottage that will become Anne's house of dreams. In Glen St. Mary, Anne and Gilbert will make new friends: their beautiful but embittered neighbor Leslie Moore, the ancient lighthouse keeper and storyteller Captain Jim, and the abrasive but good-hearted spinster Cornelia Bryant. Anne's talent for deep friendships will be put to the test as the unique stories of each of her friends play out in "House of Dreams."Anne and Gilbert will learn new roles, she as wife, housekeeper, and mother, he as husband, father, and as the new doctor in town. They will experience their first argument, over one of Gilbert's patients, and their first tragedy as a couple, regarding their first child. However, their love for each other will carry them, and the reader, to real joy in the life they will make together. Thanks to Montgomery's superb prose and honest characterization, Anne is as irresistable in her newly married life as she has been in earlier books. "Anne's House of Dreams" is very highly recommended to her fans of all ages.

great story! Narrator doesn't change her voice much
A great story #4 (i think) in the Anne of Green Gables series. This is a great feel good story with lots of interesting new characters. The narrator's voice is an older one, which is fine, but she doesn't change it much with each character. It needs to sound young for Anne's voice, deeper for mens, etc... However, I liked her voice more than a couple others i heard that sounded really young on every character, and "hyper." (like teenager's voices) At least this narrator reads a good story in a calm way. And portrays the older ladies perfect.5 Stars for this sequel. 4 Stars for the narrator.

Great story
Mystery and romance, joy and tragedy. This story has it all and is one of my favorites out of the series. After many years of not liking each other, secretly liking each other, and openly liking each other, finally Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe have walked down the aisle and are husband and wife. Gilbert, a doctor, has found a job in a town elsewhere on Prince Edward Island, so he and Anne move away from the area where they grew up. and settle into married life in a little cottage that Anne calls their "house of dreams". They meet Miss Cornelia, an older spinster, writer Owen, neighbor Leslie, and a fishing captain. Amid preparing for the birth of her first child, Anne helps Leslie with her difficult disabled husband and Owen with his writing and family past.

Dreamy as always!
Anne has managed to capture the hearts of millions over the years. I find myself going back and reading the Anne series over and over again. Anne's house of dreams is no exception to the wonderful series that keeps following Anne and her new husband Gilbert 60 miles from Green Gables and to their new house of dreams in Four Winds. This is the book we waited for-when Anne and Gilbert finally marry and have a beautiful wedding day. We want to see them in wedded bliss and discover their new home. It does not disappoint! Wonderful and charming-like Anne herself, this book is a favorite in the series for me.

Such a perfect read!
This whole series is absolutely fabulous! Beginning with book one, "Anne of Green Gables". When I have finished reading one book and move on to the next in the series I tell myself, "this couldn't possibly be as good as the last Book". But somehow each and every time it just gets better and better! I am on book six and still very impressed by the rich development of characters in each book, the joy and laughter you experience along their journey, and the sorrows also! So special!

Memorable read.
Wow! I can't believe I've come so far with Anne in her journey and only one book of the series is left. It's so sad. Yes, it seemed like i had been with her at every turn of the way and i can't bear to part now. God! How beautifully the author weaved the character of Anne. She'll always be with me no matter WHERE i go, in mind and heart. i am never losing the whole series of Anne of Green Gables. Never ever!

Beautiful hardcover edition of a classic series
This review is for the entire Anne of Green Gables series. I loved this series as a child. Anne is my all time favorite storybook character. I read the whole series several times as a child and wanted to own hardcover editions of the series to share with my two daughters. I couldn't find nice hardcover editions of the entire series through the U.S. Amazon so decided to try Amazon.ca. I'm glad I did. These books are beautifully made--exactly what I was looking for!

great,... as usual But the three other comments do not concern this book !!! ( commentaire bilingue)
If you like L.M Montgomery, you'll love this book. Anne follows her life but she is now a "just married" young woman living with her Gilbert. You'll discover that as in plain life, it's not always a piece of cake!Pour les lecteurs français, vous retrouverez Anne aux pignons verts en tant que jeune mariée avec son cher Gilbert. Mais la vie n'est pas toujours rose. Ce livre est un peu moins gai que les précédents, à mon avis. Mais super quand même...
