Over the years, I’ve learnt the hard way the importance of backing up files to external hard drives. I’ve used Transcend portable hard drives for over ten years, and none of them has ever failed.With MS pc’s, the Transcend 25M3S is good to go straight out of the box: just plug it in.With Apple Mac’s, you’ll need to format the 25M3S first. If you’re familiar with this process, you’ll know that it’s a 10-second doddle. For those who aren’t, I’ve posted six step-by-step screen shots of what to do. WARNING – formatting will wipe your external hard drive clean, so do this only with a brand-new unit. If you’re using an old external hard drive, make sure you’ve already saved everything on it somewhere else.Formatting procedure.1. in the Finder window, search for ‘Disk Utility.app’.2. Double click on Disk Utility.app to open it.3. Highlight Transcend in the left-hand margin. For safety, I renamed my Transcend as ‘Transnd MAC’ and unplugged everything else.4. Click on ‘Erase’ – that’s the centre icon at the top of the Disk Utility window. That opens a sub-menu box.5. Choose ex-FAT in the Format box.6. Click on ‘Erase’ (Bottom right)That’s it. Your 25M3S is now ready to use on your Apple Mac. You can either drag existing files from your iMac to your Transcend, using your Finder window or simply save new files directly to your Transcend.

Bought to create a portable back-up of my music.This now means I have my music backed up on 4 different drives as the music I own is either very rare or unreleased tracks by myself and other producers I know.The transfer was pretty fast, averaging over 100mbs per second, although the Hard drive was a bit warm after completing the 600GB odd transfer.I've read alot of people complaining that they've lost data due to this drive and I know the sinking feeling but only once have I experienced it. Ever since that horrid experience I now make sure I have 3 or 4 back-ups, especially since storage is so damm cheap.I paid £28 for this 1tb drive which is great value for the money however if you require better speed you can pick up a 250GB SSD for the same price or if you want your storage even more portable than a 256gb flash drive can be bought for under £20!If you have important data ladies and gentlemen it needs to be backed up multiple times, whether it's games, music, pron or your Aunt Maggie's birthday photos!Regardless of what data is of value to yourself just make sure, for the love of god, to have multiple back-ups!

For the price I was satisfied with what I got and the speed of delivery. However, the seller advertises the disk drive capacity as 4tb. I have ordered two and each only holds 3.63tb. If I'm paying for 4tb, shouldn't I get 4tb?

The disk has been performing well and within expectations. I use it to storage my 4K video files and edit reading from the disk (usually with DaVinci in MacBook Pro) and it works fine. The speed (both reading and writing) could be slightly better but it usually works with no glitches or choking, just very ocassionaly it can drop a couple of frames when used intensely. It travels a lot with me and it's very easy to carry. The USB-C cable is a big plus with the MacBook Pro. Fortunately I don't have any thoughts or experience about it's resistance to shock.

Not the fastest transfer rate but its a back up so no issue so far working fine. If you are travelling take the cable out otherwise you will break the connector internally sooner or later

Use for backing up my files and important documents i have and I can carry it wherever I want makes all my work so easy

Me gustó el disco duro, es justamente lo que necesitaba. Aunque algo que no me gusta es que se anuncie de 4TB y a la hora de usarlo te marque mucho menos, 3600G. También el cable de conexión se me hace algo delicado. Por lo demás cumple y hasta ahora me ha funcionado bien, no he usado su software el Trascend Elite, pero por lo demás muy bien.

Handlich und gegen Stöße gesichert. Ich habe mittlerweile 4 von diesen Festplatten. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
