6-channel SD Capture Box to USB 2.0 & 3.0; plus 6 unbalanced stereo audio

I've had it for about 5 months now. I plug it in and it works. 6 hours later it's still working. I'm using it with a laptop and disconnecting it and moving it, each time I use it and it always just works. The drivers are solid if basic. They haven't caused a blue screen or crashed OBS as other USB capture hardware I've used have. My only real complaint is the color bars it displays when there is no signal. There is no way to change this in the software but it can be changed to either a blue or black screen by editing a registry key. There is no documentation about this that I could find online. That being said when I asked Magewell tech support about it they replied promptly with the info I need to make the changes to the windows registry. Still need to play with the settings some more but the video isn't as smooth as I would like. Not sure if it's the de-interlace settings, if frames are being dropped or something else.

This is a special part that is engineered for a very few that will need it. Works and functions as advertised and quality of signal to the computer is very good. I take a star as it is not overly robust in build. Over time I am sure connections will loosen. However with care and planning this unit will last. Just don't expect to abuse it.

This little box works perfectly: it allows the display of up to six cameras in full, smooth motion and in good color. Most important, I was astonished at how easy it was to setup and use. After struggling for a couple of years trying to get six Elgato adapters to work with six cameras simultaneously (I never got more than four going at the same time), I plugged all six of my Hawk Eye Birdhouse Spy Cameras into the Magewell, then plugged the Magewell into a USB-3 port ... and immediately all six cameras became accessible to all my video programs. (Note: you do need to buy RCA to BNC adapters, as the Magewell inputs are all BNC. But the adapters are available on Amazon and not costly. I bought "Bluecell 10 Pack RCA Female Plug to BNC Male Jack Adapters+10 BNC Female to RCA Male Jack Adapters" for $10 and they work fine.) Both the regular Hawk Eye and the so-called HD version (which uses 720 lines) display well with the Magewell. There *is* a limitation with the Magewell in that it doesn't handle true HD signals: double-check that the output of your cameras matches what the box can handle. But if you're using a group of normal resolution cameras, I recommend buying the Magewell instead of a bunch of individual adapters like Elgato. You'll be spending a little more money initially, as Elgatos are around $70 each and the Magewell works out to around $90 per input, if you use all six. But the Magewell actually *works* with six cameras (into a Windows 7 setup), while the Elgato doesn't. Also, I had one Elgato fail on me after a few months ... in which case I would have *saved* money if I'd bought the Magewell first. Of equal importance, I would have avoided hours and hours of vexation trying to coax the Elgatos into life.
