Sunex 1800 1/4-Inch Drive Impact Universal Joint

Made from chrome-moly steel. Some of the cheaper manufacturers are using chrome vanadium in their impact tools these days and they have to be much thicker overall to handle the impacts without cracking. Sunnex makes decent quality. It fits the drive and socket well and rotates smoothly with no catching anywhere. It's hard to find pinless swivels in 1/4, and I don't like the universal joint style ones so I went with this instead. It's finished well with a black oxide or manganese coating (hard to Teel the difference sometimes. I'd buy one again if I needed to, but I suspect this will last me years. I've heard Sunnex has a good warranty anyhow, but I'm not concerned that I'll ever need it.

Nice and solid. It does have a small spring back when tilted to both extremities of the horizontal pin. The 1/4 drive hole does not have chamfers for better alignment when inserting an extension or ratchet driver. Made in Taiwan.

Awesome tool to have works great. I recomend oiling it first tho. I resealed a timing cover and this tool on my electric ratchet was amazing.

This is a very useful accessory for applications where larger universal joints are simply not going to fit, and can work well with impact tools, which it is rated for. It is quite strong, although long term durability is not known. As shown in the photo, it is a bit long, so for those requiring a very short unit, this is going to be an issue. With a socket attached, it's definitely not minimal overall length. Its maximum outside diameter is not minimal as well, so again, the illustration shows both the advantages and disadvantages correctly. The maximum angle that can be achieved is not very sharp, though adequate for most; this prevents the joint from binding in use. Item is labeled as "made in Taiwan", so it's not from PRC.
