No this is a Garmin product. To use the Fitbit app you will need to buy a Fitbit device. I would advise against it though as I’ve owned both and Garmin is a far superior product.

It can, however. You may find it more useful using a golf ball instead

Q: Can I take this on a run without taking my phone? I.e. will it still measure the route, heart rate etc.

Yes it certainly does. The only thing it won’t do is provide live track data to a next of kin, and you won’t be able to play back music (unless you have the 245M). I only tend to take my phone on longer runs for the live track feature. For short runs I just take my watch and leave my phone at home. It all syncs up when you get back.

Q: I bought this however forgot to get the protection plan. Can i still buy the protection plan post purchase?

If that’s the Amazon enhanced protection thing you would need to contact Amazon customer support.
