Very Fast CF card, doesn't seem to be faster than the 1000x but that's ok
So I got this card and it was immediately apparent that it was faster than my older 400x cards. I guess that is to be expected. Anyway, I started to wonder just how fast it was. I guess it's pretty new, there were no official reviews on the internet of this cardI did find this thread on the Fred Miranda Forum. [...]. Unfortunately there was no data available for this particular 1066x card. So, I decided I'd add my own. (I'm vw151 on FM) Here is what I found.1DX17-40L @ 24mmF/5.61/4000thISO100fresh batterymanual focus12FPSRAWLexar 32 GB UDMA 7 1066x ------------156 shots in a 30 sec burstI did the test 2x got 155 once, 156 onceAnother metric I thought might be useful in this thread was total size of the files produced to account for the difference in file size made by different cameras. The 1Dx vs the 1D4 for instance.Anyway in both cases, my combined total file size was about 3.19GB Do the math and that works out to about 106MB/second. File sizes are about 21MB per image. I think the frames recorded plus this data gives a clear picture of the card's performance.I have 2 cards. I'm gonna run the test 2 more times with the other card.********************************************OKI did 4 more tests on the 2nd card but changed up the parrameters in the 2nd 2 tests.155 shots 3.23GB RAW 12FPS Avg. 5.16 FPS 107.67MB/sec148 shots 3.11GB RAW 12FPS Avg 4.9 FPS 103.67MB/sec312 shots 1.57GB JPEG 12FPS Avg. 10.4 FPS 52.33MB/sec324 shots 1.63GB JPEG 14FPS, Mirror Locked Avg. 10.8 FPS 54.33MB/secThe interesting thing was, Jpeg @ 12FPS, It didn't sound like I ever got off the buffer but Jpeg @ 14fps it got into the buffer hard at about 10 seconds in. but it still made more pictures in 30 seconds.I also see file transfer rates from the card to an SSD or RAID0 at around 115MB/sec.Please keep in mind these are real world benchmarks, not lab tests. None the less, if I reproduced the test on the FM forum reasonably well it seems the write speed in a 1DX is no better than the 1000x which the tester managed 160 shots in 30 seconds. Nothing wrong with that as the 1066x is just the successor to the 1000x and it seems we are reaching the maximum of the CF interface with these cards.

Blazing accurate speeds, it even boosted my 512Buffer D3!!!
Can you look in your viewfinder and see '28, 38, 45, or more photos available in your cache? I can, and I thought that was it. Shooting 14bit, RAW, FX images, I felt I was set as set could be. But there's more to image buffer than 'run and gun', in fact there's prof practical reason to use. A, biggest, in wildlife photog, the SHOT, is always one that happens instantly, no notice. Predicting that is within the shooters ability, like a Hawk suddenly taking flight. I don't know what you shoot but that takes less than 1 second and if predicted using burst mode, you often get those great shots. Why is this card great, here, because usually the SHOT comes at the tail of even 40 frames of.buffer, and once caught, if your skilled, you can then often get a 2nd winner in flight. IF you have buffer space, or ******Your CF Cards Dumps so fast the Camera literally maintains a continual 1-2 fps shooting because it's got the room. I was using the 32 G 800x 120mbs card and it would give me a couple shots at the end, good, very good, but this difference is literally noticeable. I can use 9 FPS, (note most adjustments off like high ADL, High NR, ETC), but raw 14bit w/ 38min showing in my buffer. Power through the buffer and I'll continue to get 1 to 2 fps continued endlessly. 2fps idk what clears the card faster for this but it will normally start w/ 2 right after buffer empty. Then continue at 1, but hiccuping 2 every couple shots. So that is dramatically faster than the 800x which is now my #2 cf card. Enjoy and search I got mine w/ no incentives for review for $40 @!!!!

Great Cards
These are decent cards. It's too bad everyone has shifted away from this media type.

Why did I wait so long?
Very very fast!! I use this in my Canon 5D Mark III. I installed Magic Lantern and needed a card capable of recoring 14-bit RAW video at 1080p resolution on the camera. This card does not get close to getting locked up, no matter how long the video keeps going. For so long I thought walking into Best Buy and getting a cheap card on sale was all I needed. Wow, I can't believe it took me this long to switch to a high quality card. They say fast glass (f1.8 f2.8) for good photos, and now I see why fast cards will help with that as well. Transferring speeds to my computer using an USB 3.0 card reader were around 100MB/s. This thing is amazing, and I will definitely be ordering more in the future!

Price issue
Just remember if taking RAW photos, 32gb won't get you much more than 1,000 photos. That seems like a lot but for $40, I wish it was more than that. I'm glad I bought this but I wish it wasn't such a splurge to get.Taking standard jpegs will get you over 10,000 photos.5 stars because I can still take thousands of photos without worrying about space. But I still think the price should be less. Photography is expensive.

Works as it should
First CF card I have had. First camera that would use one is why I bought it. Had to purchase a reader for it. Which happens to have an SD card reader in it too. So far so good!
