This is the book that will teach me how to make stained glass!!
I have bought at least 10 books on how to do Stained Galss. Sure wish I had bought this one first!! It is by far the very best how-to book I have found for this subject. It is well written and the photographs are clear and well done. It has this awesome binding that covers the spiral binding. I for one think All craft books should be bound this way. It lies flat on the table with out you having to find a stand to put it in so you can have it open while you work. It takes you step by step through the projects with lots of photographs to help you along. Being a visual learner this is perfect for me. There is also another book by the same author called Beyond Basic Stained Glass Making and I'm on my way to buy that book also, as soon as I finish writting thie review. The only problem with this, and many others, is that it doesn't tell you how to resize a pattern. But if you have a Kinko's or Office Max near you this is not a problem. They can enlarge your patterns for you. For me I have to find a differant solution because I don't have anything like that near me. I did find a program that will do it for you and will tile the pages so you can tape them together, but haven't tried that out yet so I can't say how it works. Ok, now I'm done and I'm off to buy the second book for myself. I hope everyone has a Great Day!!

This is the one for beginners
This is a great book for beginners (me!). It does not assume that you are ready to commit your life to stained glass art, and are ready to spend thousands of $ for the best equipment and workshop. It gives you the opportunity to try out this hobby. The author explains things very well, and there are tons of photos showing each step of creating a project. Several of the projects are very nice, a few aren't really my taste (tho they may be your taste...); but each one teaches new techniques.Comparing this to "Stained Glass for Dummies:" SGFD assumes a higher level of commitment, and more money. It probably isn't as good for rank beginners, but makes an excellent resource for extra information. And someday you may have that higher level of commitment. It also has many good projects, and a large section devoted to "warm glass" if you're into that.

Solid tips for beginners
This book is one of the most helpful I’ve read for people interested in starting in stained glass. The first half of the book is dedicated to equipment, how to use the equipment, and practice exercises that build skill in glass cutting. The projects included vary from beginner to advanced. There are not a wide variety of patterns included, but if you need the basics, this is a book I would recommend.

Great book!
I wanted a beginning stained glass book to get started without taking a class. This book does the trick. It has great explanations, beautiful photos and is on nice glossy paper. The photos are large and excellent. I especially like that the book is spiral bound and lays open flat. There is a section showing and explaining tools and the steps in using them. The next section is explaining different kinds of glass, with photos and great instructions. It also includes numerous patterns that you can copy and enlarge to whatever size you like. Each pattern and comes with excellent step by step instructions.I am a Mosaic artist and own over 30 mosaic books so I know what a great book looks like. I highly recommend this book.

No Copying Permission
Although the content of this book is clearly written and comprehensive, imagine my chagrin when I visited my local copy store and was refused service when I requested that the lesson pattern pages be copied. Directions for enlargement and type of paper to be used were printed right on the pages, but permissions were not secured to allow purchasers to use the patterns pages (which are intregal to the lessons) without getting permission from the publisher. Ridiculous!!!

Excellent guide for beginners
A really good starting point for working with stained glass. Some criticise it for not having actual tools - but come-on: It's a BOOK! Good format, easy to understand - Would recommend for a beginner.
