An audiophile's view on 3 wire brands: Pyle, Monster and Monoprice
This wire is exactly what you expect. Many emerging speaker wire products in the past couple years have started to skimp by coloring aluminum or burying aluminum inside an outside ring of copper, or marketing a product with a larger gauge than it actually is. Lately, it has become hard to find a cost effective option for speaker wire that is actually what it says it is. I trust monoprice because they give quality products and they dont try to skimp or cheat you out of what you think you are buying. Monoprice also doesn't overcharge by elating their product to more than it is by advertising. So a comparison of wire that I have bought: I have bought 50ft of 12 gauge speaker wire from Monster, Pyle, and Monoprice. Pyle speaker wire is by far the worst. Pyle "12 gauge" wire had maybe 30% less metal than what 12 gauge should be. I also suspect colored aluminum, although I am not sure about that. I also only received about 40 ft. Its amazing how much smaller the Pyle spool is than other spools. $15. I guess you get what you pay for. Monster speaker wire has great conductivity, and my speakers sound clear with good response in the full range of tones. The gauge is what it says it is and the coating in nice. My two complaints are it is overpriced (I got mine for $40 at BestBuy, but buying at BestBuy might be the issue) and my other small complaint is that one of the two wires has really light white writing on one of the tubing. Sometime it would be useful if it was more noticeable. There is also a small plastic tube on the inside of the wire, which takes away from the gauge of the wire. But overall a good product. I would definitely buy monster wire if it were competitively priced with Monoprice wire. Finally, Monoprice speaker wire has extremely pure copper, and oxygen free copper, which will allow for long term use of this wire. It also is as long and as thick as it is advertised to be. The Monoprice wire is definitely the best. There is also a big red strip running along one of the tubings to indicate a positive wire which is a nice feature. The metal of the Monoprice wire seems to be the most malleable as well. Overall great wire, for only $22

Simple and satisfying
Absolutely all that is required. High quality cable. Great.

Great quality!
Works great! Used it to pre-wire speakers in my garage using "smurf tube" plastic conduit inside of my walls. It was a little bit thick to run 2 pairs of wire in the same conduit, but I pulled them through separately and they were gripping on eachother. Sound quality it great from my retired Onkyo TX-NR737 A/V receiver to my Elac debut B6.2 bookshelf speakers. Great speaker wire. I can always trust Monoprice speaker wire and CAT 5/6 ethernet cables. I've had trouble with some of their HDMI cables though. I switched to lockable Accell AVgrip Pro HDMI cables that literally grip the inside of the HDMI ports on your devices.

Best speaker wire I've owned to date
I bought this to hook up my own DIY speakers to my amplifier. The cable is sturdy and required a bit of muscle to separate the wires, more than I expected anyway. It also isn't the most malleable, but I think that's expected for this gauge of wire. One thing I appreciated was how fine the copper strands are. Some wire that I've used previously had thick strands that are difficult to twist and bend the way you want them to, but this wire was easy to work with. The only downside was that it was easier to accidentally break a few of the strands when stripping the insulation off. Overall, a very good product. My speakers sound great, and the wires do their job. And I've got plenty more for future products! Nice product.

Very impressed
First off, I'm definitely an audiophile - I can hear and very much notice the subtle differences that can occur with different systems, speakers, wires, etc. I've used Monster Cable products for many years and have always been impressed. But when it came down to needing to replace my speaker wire since I moved, I did some research trying to find the happy medium between "overpriced to the point it can't possibly sound THAT much better for the price" and "cheap junk". I read a lot about Monoprice's products and they seemed to be top notch, get good reviews, and work for what I needed. I have Klipsch Reference Premiere Floorstanding towers/surrounds and always want to get the best possible sound and performance out of them. In my 20+ years being a huge fan when it comes to home theater, I've found that while speaker wire quality makes a difference, there is no need to spend 500 dollars on some of the upper tier wire. But at the same time, getting the cheapest spool of it from the rack at your local store isn't the best bet either. I'm telling you, you will notice a difference between the very inferior cheap stuff, and something like Monoprice. You'll obvioiusly notice the difference between the cheap stuff and the very expensive stuff too, but the point I'm trying to make is that you won't notice enough of a difference to justify the massive price difference. So that's where Monoprice came into play for me. Priced higher than a novice would buy, but priced much more affordable compared to Audioquest, this was what I chose. And I'm so happy I did. As soon as I got it and unravelled it, I could see and feel the quality of it. It's very, very well made, and a quality item. The nice blue line helps solidify the polarity so you can connect the wires to your speakers and amp correctly. And they are very well insulated in terms of the plastic around the copper wire itself. As for the sound...I know many won't agree that there is a discernible difference, and it may not be mind blowing to anyone. But I can tell you, there is a difference and I can tell how well this speaker wire is made and performs because the music was full and deep like it was with my Monster Cable wire that I replaced. It was just as good, if not better than Monster. Very happy with the product!

Big improvement in sound and enjoyment of music for very little $$
I hadn't thought about replacing my ancient, heavy 12awg Fulton cables until my wife noticed a green goo seeping out of the ends at the speakers and onto our floor. I did a quick look online for a reasonably priced replacement cable, and found so many enthusiastic reviews from professional reviewer as well as ordinary listeners, I decided to try the Monoprice Choice Series 12 Gauge AWG. I installed them with between my McIntosh amp and JSE speakers with new Monster Cable banana plugs -- and was very pleasantly surprised by the very noticeable improvement in sound. 1. Greatly improved sound stage. My audio setup in our small living room is far from ideal, and sound stage was always disappointing. But we couldn't change the location of the speakers by more than a a couple of inches. With the Monoprice cables, the music is arrayed across the room, and even provides details of depth that I never heard before. Just before I swapped out the old cables for the Monoprices, we had been listening to a favorite high quality recording of Renaissance music. The CD was still in the player, so we gave it a spin. Now we heard the musicians arrayed in our living as in a live performance, which not only provided a convincing stero image, but also greatly helped provide separation between the instrument.s 2. Revealed details, character and subtlities in the music. In the Renaissance ensemble, we simply heard more of the music. Since that first "audition" of the Monoprice cables, we've listened to a wide variety of music -- all sorts of classical performances from solos instruments, chamber groups, to big orchestral pieces; Hawai'ian intrumental and vocal music; bluegrass and folk music; Beatles; Paul Simon. I was especially amazed by two pieces I thought I knew pretty well: Paul Simon's "Graceland" CD; and the astounding performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with Leonard Bernstein/NY Philharmonic and Isaac Stern, which I heard on local classical music FM station. I long ago stepped off the audiophile carousel, and stopped pouring money into audio equipment. But the return in enjoyment of the music I have received for this under-$40.00 investment has been outstanding. Try it.

Best 12 gauge speaker wire for your money
I was setting up a home theater in the basement and needed good speaker wire. Initially I was planning to go with the RCA brand 14 gauge speaker wire that is a top seller on Amazon, however, on reading the reviews I realized that it was probably not copper, so I kept looking. Strangely, this fantastic Monoprice wire does not show up on the first page when you search for '12 gauge speaker wire', so most people will miss it. Search specifically for 'Monoprice 12 gauge speaker wire' and you should find this. Anyway, it was shipped from CA to PA by UPS Ground by Monoprice. It didn't qualify for Amazon Prime and took a good 5 business days. That was frustrating because all my home theater equipment had already arrived in two days via Amazon Prime. Keep that in mind before ordering. The packaging was a little inferior, the spool is cardboard that wears pretty easily. However, the wire itself is top notch and was wrapped in plastic rather well. I used the following tool that was well suited for the speaker wire: Irwin Industrial Tools 2078317 7-Inch Multi Tool Stripper, Cutter and Crimper with ProTouch Grips The wire is heavy duty and well suited for a home theater setup involving large speakers, floor standing & center channel. My speakers (Polk Audio TSi400 - Front L&R, Polk Audio CS20 - Center, Polk Audio OWM3 - Surround) have now been infused with power (from the Denon AVR-1913) with this speaker wire. I can now hear frequencies that I had never heard before from my older home theater setup (Harman Kardon receiver & JBL speakers) in another room, connected using Monster speaker wire costing thrice as much as this wire. I will strongly recommend this speaker wire to anyone looking for awesome sound from their home theater system and those looking for terrific value.

Nice, thick, good quality cable
I've been buying from Monoprice for many years now and it came as no surprise that this is a quality product. Its quite thick and sounds great. Ran this wire to a 2nd zone which is about 50FT away so it was exactly what I needed. Speakers sound great. This can't be beat in my opinion. Do yourself and your speakers a favour and buy quality wire.

very good
i used 15 meters for each speaker, no problems at all. sound is excellent and way better than my old cable, more crisp. 12AWG is worth it especially for more than 10 meters.

Don't believe the hype - these cables are as good as any out there
There are those who would spend the cost of this reel of Monoprice cable on a single metre or less of so-called "high end" cables (which are backed up by rave reviews from magazines who make large advertising revenues from their manufacturers - go figure!). Don't believe the hype - these cables are as good as any out there: high purity copper of a good gauge with an excellent sleeve. Spend your money on the item that really matter on the hi-fi chain, i.e. the source.
