I bought the typical wire steel shelves for my garage when one of the big stores had them on sale. I got a couple of different ones and they were great for organizing car parts, bins of screws, etc., but once they were loaded down there was no moving them around. We use similar shelves at work and I noticed that they were on casters. I found these and ordered a pair to try. These screw right into the bottom legs of my shelves, though I recommend you check yours before ordering as some may not be threaded for casters. I put a drop of oil in the swivel bearing at the top of each caster and another on each axle before installing. They swivel and roll very smoothly, even with a couple of hundred pounds of stuff on the shelves. A word of caution: The shelves can tip over easily if the wheel hits debris (a rock or screw, etc.) while rolling. I haven't had this happen but I'm very careful about it, even going so far as to sweep the floor before I roll them around. When I'm done, the brake goes on so the shelves don't go exploring. If you're like me and are constantly rearranging things to make room, these are a great value.

They work and fit these old shelving units. 5/16 standard SAE thread on the studs. Had to use a tap on the shelving poles since they had been stored where the threads had gotten dirty and rusted. Note that only two of the 4 have brakes, do have some thought as to where to place where the brake levers will be readily accessible. Comes with one sheet metal wrench to fit the hex on the studs. It works and was needed due to the poor thread condition on the old supports. Worked well enough. All 4 casters installed and tight. Took about a half hour to install the set, mostly cleaning pole threads. Need to clear a spot off to erect the whole unit.

Used with 5 shelf steel shelving unit made by the same company. Instantly made stationary shelving mobile for cleaning under / behind them or allowing ready access to items in storage units or other areas where space is constrained and access might otherwise be limited. I was able to add these casters with little effort (everything needed was included). Afterward, I loaded up the shelving unit with items and easily wheeled the stocked unit to my storage unit with limited effort. Just be sure to match the correct size caster with the appropriate shelving unit so that the diameter of holes in shelving unit poles and threaded posts that screw in to attach the wheels to the shelving unit are of compatible diameter so that they align. Be sure that the caster is the appropriate size for the unit's weight bearing capacity. Once in place, two of the wheels can be locked if needed. This is likely to be very handy if floors are not perfectly level or when moving in future as the entire unit can be rolled onto a (larger) moving truck and secured (with both wheel locks and appropriate placement of straps). These shelving units were previously used primarily in garages and basements but have become widely accepted in kitchen and living areas with the advent of contemporary "industrial design" decor. You can even buy shelf coverings of plastic or wood to allow for flat surfaces and keep items balanced and / or from falling through the spaces between the rods that form the base of each shelf. If you didn't initially recognize the benefit of casters and you did not buy a wheeled shelving unit initially -- this is the fix!

Easy upgrade if you want to be able to replace the leveler. Supplied wrench is a joke since it is a 14mm and the nut is 9/16 standard but it needs to be thin to work and tge supplied wrench will tighten it ok. Easy rolling ofvthe shelving unit once installed. Two of the wheels have locking levers.

I took a chance on these for a "metro" rack where I blew out two wheels on a recent move. I am not clear of the specs or brand of my prior rack (Sam's club?), but these fit just right. They do seem noticeably light on the materials and construction, but the price is just what I wanted to not have to have a stationary rack. The specs here say "350 lbs"--not sure if that is total, per wheel...probably total. These steel racks can hold a lot more (usually without wheels), and other brands of wheels mention a lot more, but this is probably fine for most people.

I like these sturdy, threaded 4" caster roller wheels that easily screw into the bottom of wire shelving unit poles. I have bought these caster wheels 6 times so far--every time I get a new wire shelving unit. I have multiple wire shelving units in the house and garage and all of them are mobile. It's much easier to vacuum or wash the floor if you can move the shelving out of the way. Also, if you don't have a lot of space, mobile shelving can make your life easier since you can place the shelving units close together and just pull out the one you need. In the house, I have one mobile shelving unit for my small kitchen appliances--vacuum sealer, mixer, dehydrator, air fryer, crockpot, and baking pans and another for canned goods, cereals, crackers, condiments, jelly, etc. In the garage, I use one shelving unit to store holiday lights and decorations, and another for my tool box, drill, painting supplies, gardening implements, etc. I also hang S-hooks off my mobile wire shelving units to hold my leaf blower and weed whacker.

These are great casters. I bought them to use on uline chrome wire shelving units. They fit perfectly and are a breeze to install! Would definitely recommend!
