Good stuff
I bought the $65 case of 10 units end of May 2015 - what arrived was manufactured in Feb 2015 and expires Feb 2020, so I'm pleased. Each blue sealed unit that you see in the pictures is a block containing 18 bars. The sealed unit dimensions: 4.5" x 3.5" x 2.5" - weight is 25.4 oz per blue sealed unit. Each individual 200 calorie bar measures about 1.75" x 2.5" x 0.5".They recommend eating 1 bar every 4 hours on land, 1 bar every 6 hours at sea - so each sealed pack of 18 will last 3 days on land and 4-1/2 days at sea - per person. The case of 10 which I bought will therefore last a single person 30 days (land) or 45 days (sea) - it weighs 15.8 lbs which I will break up into a few sealed units in my car and the rest at home. They're surprisingly decent to eat - I broke open one blue unit to test and they're like a slightly crumbly cookie with a very faint taste of coconut. The hard part now will be to not snack on them...

One more step in family BOB's!
Received my package yesterday. Was a little concerned about some peopel stating some of the seals were broken. Mine were all sealed tight and clean. These are perfect for BOB's (Bug out bags) because they are very compact. Poped one open last night to let my kids try it. They all liked them, comparing them to strange cookies, however dont let that to imply there is a bad taste or anything. They taste good, slight hint of coconut, no after taste. They go down easily and dont leave you thirsty. I would not want to live on these things as the servings are small. You will certainly get the calories you need, but it will do little to make you feel full.Point being, great item for a bug out bag, or bug in stash. When things go bad, you will be glad to have them!

Bad vendor. Otherwise great product.
I ordered the 10-pack. 4 of them came with seals broken (meaning the vacuum was gone and the bars were rolling around in the foil). Obviously there was air leakage, which means they're worthless as storage food. That's 40% of the order wasted. Otherwise Datrex is excellent food. Just don't buy here.

Tastes like crap but will save your life if needed and they have a 5 yr shelf life and designed to withstand high-temps/variations. Good product when you need it.

Very Hard to Open and Crumbly
If this is an Emergency Food supply,Why are the Individual packets so difficult to open, without a very sharp knife. The bars are also very crumbly,so unless you have something to catch the crumbs, you're likely to lose part of the bar.Bought on the Recommendation of a Friend. But the next time I see him, I'll tell himI wish he'd told me The Rest of the Story, not just how long they last in storage.

For emergencies, not for fun
I ordered a box of these to have in case of emergencies (earthquake area) and that's really all I intend to ever use them for. If something/anything ever happens where "regular" food is hard to get for a short time, these will help get my daily caloric intake up. It could be supplemented by longer term food storage, or as an extra sugar boost if doing strenuous activity. In other words, these shouldn't be your only emergency rations, but for something you can quickly pack and eat on the go, they're decent.Taste-wise, it's not bad. Yeah, they're crumbly, and sure you could probably think of ways to improve the texture so they hold together better, but anything like that would only shorten their shelf life. There is a reason they're crumbly and that's because the extra moisture means they wouldn't last as long. I get the complaints some reviewers leave, about how they don't hold together, etc. but let's face it, you're probably getting these in case of emergency, not as a delicious treat. In an emergency you're not going to care that your food is crumbly, I'm guessing. Imagine yourself surviving a flood or earthquake or whatever other natural disaster and the stores are closed and probably will be for days - relief efforts have started but it could be days or weeks before anyone makes it to you with any kind of supplies. When the hunger sets in, are you really going to look at these and say "I'm starving, but they're crumbly" ? :)

Great Packaging, Pleasant Taste, Good Value!!
Based on the reviews here on Amazon, I bought a case of 10. I opened a pouch to see if they lived-up to all the positive reviews. And in my opinion, they do!! Very dense composition, but very easy to chew. Mildly sweet with a very pleasant coconut flavor. Three servings (there are 18 individually wrapped servings in each sealed pouch) gave me 600 calories, and a comfortably full belly. Overall, a quality product and a very good value.

Highest caloric density (cal/oz) and best flavor
These are simply the best survival rations available. There are two other brands I know of that sell similar products, but their taste is not as good. Each 3600 cal pack weighs ~25 oz, which is unbeatable unless you're packing almost pure fat. Inside each tough, vacuum-sealed foil outer packaging, there are 18 plastic-wrapped bars (200 cal each) with scoring down their center, allowing them to be easily subdivided even further down to 100 cal servings if desired. The flavor is akin to a less sweet sugar cookie--you need not be starving to death to enjoy them. Pack away 3+ of these for EACH person's BOB. Calories are your friend when you are running for your life.
