Wonderful writing and great information
As an MS patient and now a disability advocate I learned so much from this book. All of us can be just an accident or an illness away from disability. By working together to understand options, including neurotechnologies, we can help to ensure that we all have our best quality of life no matter what challenges we must face. This book is very well written and truly Inspiring.

On My Feet Again
This is a very inspiring story of how one second can change your life and how your inner strength can be your salvation if you so choose to use it. Everyone goes through the five stages of grief(denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance)however not everyone stays the same length of time in each stage. It is truly up to the individual to bring up their inner strength and use it to their benefit. Jen show the power of that inner strength that we all have within us. "You can do it".Her determination not to be a 'bitter' person helped and guided her to deal with the new everyday challenges of living in a wheelchair. It guided her to focus on keeping her body in shape and her mind healthy. She explains how electrical stimulation helped her achieve her many goals including being 'On My Feet Again'.Jen tells her amazing journey to becoming a Silver Medal winner in sailing at the London 2012 Paralympics. Determination and inner strength at work full time!Jen is an inspiration to us all to 'just do it' and get back to enjoying life. Jen's husband, Tim, is another book yet to be written of love and devotion a man can have for a woman.

Iluminating
A very interesting book which not only tells us about the struggles of a determined paraplegic, but leaves us to question how responsible the scientific society is to care for the patients after the conclusion of researches in which they have participated.

It's amazing to read about the Jenn's struggle to cope with the realization of loosing her freedom of walking to her dedication and patience through research to once again stand up with the use of modern technology. A very moving and inspirational story that has spawned a movement and further research into spinal cord injuries. Inspirational!
Jennifer French, the first person to be named US Sailing's Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year for achievements in disabled sailing, is truly the embodiment of triumph over adversity. Refusing to accept life in a wheelchair after she was paralyzed in a snowboarding accident, Jen was the first woman to participate in a clinical trial of the revolutionary Implantable Stand & Transfer System. As the Executive Director of Neurotech Network, Jen is improving access to neurotechnology for people with spinal cord injuries and other impairments. She's also set her sights on competing with able-bodied sailors...and they'll be hard-pressed to keep up! This is a very inspirational book by an absolutely amazing person. If you have a loved one in a wheelchair, buy it!

Sacrifices for Science
This book not only gives good insight into the mind of someone who has experienced a horrific accident, but the sacrifices and dedication clinical trial patients endure for the good of medical advances. We rarely think of the process of how advances in medical devices, methods, or drugs come to be or the people behind it. This book gives a good snapshot of what is a long research process and raises ethical questions about aftercare of the clinical trial patients and the process of our medical and insurance industries providing access and coverage of new technology to patients.
