Best English translation of the Cholq'ij Mayan Calendar
Generally this is a very good read. It's very uncommon to find an American author that transmits the actual Kiche Mayan teachings as they truly are. Thus I applaud Kenneth! So many of today's books in English on the Mayan Calendar are extremely inaccurate. The author's have changed the teachings to what they like, or changed the Spanish to English translation to poetic flowery new age nonsense...But Kenneth Johnson has not done this. Much translates well from Spanish to English and the teachings for the most part are the same as I have learned and been taught by my own grandmother's.Some teachings are different than mine, but that is to be expected. As our teachers come from different regions.I do question tho why the author used the same cover of the earlier published Spanish book on the same subject by Carlos Barrios. He mentions him throughout the book, as if he knows him or simply just read his book. As well sometimes it seems the exact same wording or even sentences to paragraphs are seen in the two books. Again Kenneth's book is the later written and published. This leaves me with simple questions of autocincity....Yet, for the most part I do recommend this book! It's the best book on nahuales and the calendar written in English. If you speak Spanish, Carlos Barrios book is better and more accurate, as language translation always changes it bit.

Missing Pages
Everything about the book is great. I love the content. My issue is that it is missing pages 117-122. My number is an Eight, and I was really looking forward to reading the interpretation, but I don't have anything from number Seven to Twelve. Very unfortunate and very strange.

Fantastic
This is a great and practical book, for serious practitioners...who are called by the gods(and not just imagining it!) to work with them-however,it is good for those who are not"called" as well, you can read all about your friends and family,by looking up their Mayan Day Signs..the best of in it's class-good luck Frank Q.

Excellent companion to Birgitte Rasines work
Actually my review of Kenneth Johnson's "Jaguar Wisdom" was intended for this book (early morning reviews, cognitive abilities not firing 100%). This is THE book in that review. BTW, Jaguar Wisdom predates this book, yet has more background info on world of ancient maya, the mayan universe, and additional ancillary stories. So, saying I love them both, and fully recommend Birgitte Rasines book to accompany K. Johnson's work. All three books blow a little clarity into Dreamspell philosophies, or non-mayan unsubstantiated mythologies for some.

Excellent work. Contains all the basics of the Mayan system, and accurate information from a specific Guatemalan tradition. I'd recommend this book first for anyone interested in the subject.

Kenneth Johnson is clearly the best writer in this field
Kenneth Johnson is clearly the best writer in this field. He is the only western writer on the subject, who is also initiated into the Mayan daykeeper tradition.
