We said we would never spend anything on Pokemon Go.... but this is definitely worth £40!
Super fast next day delivery just in time for the Pokemon Festival! Works well and is great for busy events when there is so much happening - you can be clearing your bag and sorting pokemon, while the device catches and spins at the same time. We charged before we left the house and it lasted nearly 12 hours!! Wow!! :-D Only slight snag is that every hour or so it times out but doesn't tell you, I just noticed that it stops catching. So would turn off bluetooth and restart game, turning everything back on and re-syncing the watch and it worked perfectly again, for another hour or so :-) Only uses red balls, so make sure you have a stack or are walking near lots of pokestops.

Poor performance.
This item sadly didn’t live up to expectations. Bluetooth connectivity was poor and often failed. It would only stay connected if held a maximum of 10cm away. I loved the auto catch function when it worked. On changing it for a second one, exactly the same things happened but this time it only charged once and then I couldn’t get it to charge again. I wonder if this is an IOS issue as I used it on apple devices. I got my money back and went back to my Go Plus. Very disappointed.

A great gadget
After reading alot of bad reviews, not just for this brand but for the typical product. I very nearly didn't buy this for my partner. But we are both really glad I did. It is fiddly to take the strap off to charge (a firm pull, which felt like he was going to break it) and it does need to be reconnected after about an hour. But because we were aware of these issues when buying, it was what we expected. My partner doesn't wear it as a watch but just has it in his pocket when he wants to use it. With that he also hasn't put the strap back on after charging. But it does what it is meant to do in regards to spinning stops and catching pokemon. He always drove me mad by asking me to do this for him while he was driving, now we are both happy because I don't have to 😉 and he is happy because the watch reaches pokestops that the game normally can't. Overall, a perfect buy for us. 🙂

It does what it says it will do but...
I'm a month or so into using this device and, It's a good device, it does what it says it will do, and the connectivity issues are far less frequent than some of the reviews will make you believe. It has caught me a lot of shinies, but I do recommend you live in an area with a high number of pokestops because it will burn through red pokeballs very very quickly ( I could go through 200-300 in a day of daily activities) However... Despite all this, I can't give this product 5*. As all other reviewers mention, the charging system hidden inside the watch strap feels very awkward to use, it feels inevitable to eventually snap when taking off the strap. And at £40 that is quite a big worry to have, especially when the device needs charging farily frequently. It is also worth nothing a new model is shipping now, which does not have the pedometer or the clock function. To me, this was no problem whatsover but I would of loved to know this before spending a couple hours troubleshooting why I couldn't access these functions. Finally, I suggest using the watch without the vibration feature, I find the battery to last a considerable amount longer, and you don't really need to know when the watch is doing something. ( I also wish there was an option to turn off the LED screen when it's doing something, to save even more battery) Overall, I'd rate it a low 4*. Buy it with caution, and be very careful when charging.

Good, but disconnects itself a LOT. The app is web-based and sometimes doesn't work.
When it works, it works great. It auto-catches with pokeballs only and spins pokestops well enough, doesn't have issues being recognised by the game. Where I have gripes though is it often disconnects itself if you stop catching pokemon, which could be a good thing, but it does this even if you're just sending gifts back or managing your storage. On top of that, sometimes it will disable some of its settings so you need to use the gotcha-evolve live web app, which sometimes doesn't want to detect the device whatsoever. I would have grabbed a Plus + if I knew, but it's been okay other than that.

Review after 6 months. Still running perfectly
i bought it on 28th June and its 6+ months i started using it. it was 22K caught when i connected it then and today it is just above 78K after 6 months. > I use it only for one purpose , for auto catch, so never ever I wore this since i purchased it. i keep it in my bag or i keep it in my drawer when started spoofing. > i never put the USB cover strap back since removed it first time. I read bad reviews about strap and decided not to use it at all. it is not a fashion accessory . lucky we have something like this so use it the way we want. They should design it as a locket or something so it will be easy to use. > battery is really good. I have used it daily since bought it and i charge it once a week. i am not sure if it changes when you carry around rather than keeping it in the drawer. > try not to use Pedometer from it, it makes you carry it all the time and wear it. Just my opinion. I would recommend this to anyone similar to my situation.

Indispensable
Excellent piece of kit. Well worth tracking down the accompanying app (I searched under the developer name, Datel Electronics), that enables you to download a usable watch face, rather than the teeny display that comes out of the box. Occasionally it won't connect, but this is more an issue with updates to Pokemon Go rather than this device, & it usually works fine after a few hours. The vibration is subtle, personally I like this more than the GoPlus which felt like wearing an electric shock collar. Also this seems to have a better lock on Pokestops while driving - the GoPlus would only spin stops at under 20~22mph, this happily collects at 40mph. Yes, there's an art to charging it, you need to very gently ease the strap off at a 45° angle, don't rush it, it gets there in the end. And the strap itself is quite stiff, but since the main criticism of the original Go-tcha was that it was too easy to lose, I reckon this is a definite improvement

I’m so glad I got this! I previously had a Go Plus (that I accidentally washed and dried) and a Pokeball Plus (that I accidentally dropped in the grass and then ran over with a lawnmower). Neither of them did auto spin and auto catch, though, even before their unfortunate demise. I carefully researched the 3 Gotcha versions, as well as a few other random devices, and decided to go with the Gotcha Evolve, mostly because of the screen. I also preferred the look of Evolve’s wrist band. I’d read about potential issues with the recharging plug be broken off, but I think that if you’re reasonably careful detaching the wristband, you’ll be fine. And if you’re the kind of person who isn’t careful, maybe consider springing for the protection plan. I get great battery life on a recharge, and it doesn’t take that long to reach full power. I love that you can see how much battery you have left on the screen. There’s an app you can download to change the settings on your Evolve, but I never use the app, as it’s easier for me to alter the settings directly on the watch. I appreciate the fact that I can quickly turn off the auto function if, say, I don’t want to spin stops because I’m trying to save a spot open for a red egg. As for fit, the band stays on securely around my wrist. I only use one of the two keepers because it can take a little longer to put it on and take it off. However, I rarely wear it on my wrist because, as a smaller female, the watch face is so huge on my arm that it doesn’t fit well. I tend to just stick it in a pocket when I’m walking or buckle it to a belt loop. I personally never use the time or step functions since I have my phone. It’s true what has been said about the vibrations being pretty much unnoticeable, especially when not on your wrist. I leave that function off. The watch does turn off after 30 minutes. Sometimes it will still display as being “on” in the game, but then I notice that it’s not catching or spinning. If the game shows the watch is off, I just have to reconnect, but if it hasn’t realized the Evolve has shut down, I need to restart the app and then reconnect. It’s only a minor annoyance. Speaking of connecting the Evolve to my game, I’d say it’s easy to do 90% of the time, as long as I have a decent WiFi or data connection. A weak signal can stop it from connecting. For the 10% of the time when it has trouble, a simple restart almost always solves the problem. The Evolve is on par with the Go Plus and Pokeball Plus when it comes to registering stops or Pokémon. Usually when it won’t pick up on them, I can get it to notice them by either facing the target and making sure I’m zoomed all the way in or tapping the watch to wake up the screen. Otherwise, I restart the app and reconnect. But for me, the Evolve is no worse than the Plus or Pokeball devices were. Sometimes they just don’t “see” them for whatever reason. Last comments on catching/spinning: overall catch rate for me is probably less than 50% with the Evolve when travel speed is at or below game limits. This is about the same as my rate with the other devices. Like them, the Evolve definitely increases spawns, catches, and spins when I’m driving faster than regular cutoff speeds. Increased spawns still occur around 35-50ish mph, but successful auto catch and spin rates are much lower. It rarely does anything at highway speeds of 55+ mph. All-in-all, the Evolve has been worth every cent. It’s been great for helping me grind stardust, especially when I’m randomly driving around or am busy doing something else on my phone. (The app doesn’t need to be open on the screen to do its job, you just have to make sure you’re connected.) It’s also great for catching unexpected shiny when you can’t play. It’s always a great surprise to look through you dex and find a shiny that the Evolve caught in the background. I do turn off the auto catch feature when I’m shiny hunting because I don’t want to take the chance of it running away (like other devices, the Evolve will only throw one regular Pokeball and then give up). That being said, I haven’t yet had a shiny run away from an Evolve throw. Not sure if I’m just lucky, though. I highly recommend the Evolve for all serious and semi-serious players. Though it isn’t perfect, it’s still as good as—and often better than—all the other similar devices.
