Funny and entertaining!
Book 3, Charley investigates three cases. The biggest case is a missing wife who Charley believes the husband did it. 2nd case, Reyes sets Charley up to find the man who he was accused of killing. Reyes knows he is alive and needs to prove it before he can leave prison. Their is an urgency to this so that he will be able to be free to protect Charley. 3rd case, finding the culprit who poisoned a biker gang's Rottweilers.I'm still loving this series despite the lack of romance. This series has been very entertaining with great humor. I'm starting to really feel sorry for Charley though. She's not treated very well by people, even her loved ones. On to the next book.OVERALL SERIES DESCRIPTION: Heroine, Charley Davidson, Private Investigator and Grim Reaper. She's a portal for the dead to pass through to heaven. Hero, Reyes Alexander Farrow, Son of Satan and portal to Hell. Since Charley can see and talk to the dead, she has helped her former cop father and current cop uncle solve cases. The main focus in each book are the cases Charley solves with the help of her best friend Cookie, her uncle and the dead victims. The side focus is the romance between Charley and Reyes and the impending war with the demons that is predicted.

Another good installment in a great series!
How have I not known about this series? Charley feels so much like a real person, despite her extraordinary abilities- so funny and honest, and so prone to make the same mistakes over and over again. The support characters in this series are also strong- I can imagine each one of them (except perhaps the son of Satan) living in my neighborhood. In this installment of the series, the author gives us a good balance between Charley's professional business- investigations- and her personal business- Reyes (AKA Son of Satan). As usual, Charley makes some bad choices, but her tenacity and basic good-heartedness get her through (not to mention her strong support crew). My only quibble with the story is Charley's ability to avoid sleep and still function- despite all her special abilities, she's still human, and going without sleep makes folks more than just tired and loopy after awhile. But that's a VERY trivial complaint about an otherwise fun read.

Charley is still a little clueless
3.5 stars. I'm still waiting to see Charley mature a bit more. I do think the relationship between she and her father will transform and sober her in the future because it's already layered in so much complexity. As for Reyes, there's a lot that he knows that he isn't willing to share, but is trying to nudge Charley in that direction so she can figure it out on her own. I'm extremely curious to discover what Charley is truly capable of although it seems like she wants to play the ignorance-is-bliss card and continue with her own private investigations, never mind that there's a whole underworld war going on that will require her involvement whether she wants to be or not.

Good dose of Charley
I really enjoy how this series is progressing, Third Grave Dead Ahead moved forward with the main plot at a nice pace, and the secondary plotlines were at break-neck speed.I always enjoy a healthy dose of Charley, and of course, Reyes and Cookie, too! In Third Grave Dead Ahead, there was a lot going on, both in the overall story arc, with Charley needing to understand exactly what she is, and all she can do. A missing person she needs to find, as well as getting in and out of the asylum now that there is a biker club in residence. One of the things that always strikes me when I read a Charley Davidson story is the strong friendship between Cookie and Charley, and I love how snarky they both are! They can always make me laugh, even when they find themselves in dire situations. And then, of course, there is Reyes. And he definitely has his own agenda in Third Grave Dead Ahead! Only it takes a long time of Charley to figure this out, and when she does, it’s almost too late. And on top of having more than one investigation going, Charley has to deal with her family – especially her dad – who wants her to quite as a PI and do something that is much safer for her. She really doesn’t have that many people on her side, and I was really angry towards the end! Not at Charley, but at some of the men in her life, I would have gladly help her kick their butt and get them out of the way there. The overall plot moved along nicely, and while I now know quite a bit more about Charley and her abilities, I have a feeling there is still much to be learned! Both because Charley doesn’t know everything herself yet, and because just enough hints were dropped to make me quite anxious about the next instalment, which I really need to get to very soon.Written in third person point of view, but still mostly from Charley’s perspective, and in past tense with sarcastic and humorous dialogues, there is never a dull moment in this story. I need to get my browser window open so I can one-click the next book :) and you should get to one-clicking too, this series is amazing.

Betrayed
This one tugged at the heartstrings. First Reyes getting out and what he does is just so messed up. Then the case, that one blended well with the rest of the chaos going on. Oh, not enough coffee in the world for poor Charley, but I found her to be quite hilarious sleep deprived. I would stay asleep personally if that is what I received every night I went to sleep, yep don't wake me.Then the pain. The torture, the betrayal and then the knife dug further. It was too much. I would have screamed, but Charley is different, she just started a earthquake. Poor girl. Broken. They broke her. The end, what a twist. Aw, Artemis you are awesome.

read them all - epic
Well I downloaded this one month ago and it was so good I read all 12 books to date in one month. They were epic! without giving any spoilers away, let me just say, this series was refreshingly different. A grim reaper who is funny, empathetic and has a gorgeous sexy counterpart. Both main characters and main sub characters progress throughout the series to the point that I felt I knew these people. I miss them - waiting on the final book to be released in a couple of weeks - and then I'll be despondent without them. Each book progressed not only the characters but the story without too much repetition - just the right amount that it kept new readers in the loop and didn't bore the pants of serial readers. It was laugh out loud funny in places -you don't get much of that in books - and I really empathised and felt in tune with Charley. It had it all - romance, naughty bits (just the right amount), suspense, complex storyline, and storyline progression throughout the series. These books would make an excellent transition to TV or film. A good director and producer could make these great on this medium. They are also well written. Written from Charley's POV, you get the inside view of what it's like to be Charley and you get her reactions to her circumstances, relationships both normal and paranormal and how she feels about what she does. You love Reyes as much as she does, what's not to love? And the suspense is a page turner. A series not to be missed and one to ensure you put aside time to enjoy.

Fantastic series
Book three starts two weeks after book two and Charley is desperate to stay awake due to Reyes making exhausting appearances in her dreams. It's not long before a case is brought to her attention; a doctor has reported his wife missing and Charley knows he is definitely guilty of something sinister. In the mean time Reyes has escaped from prison ( with Charley's unwitting help) and has realised that the man he was sent to prison for killing is still alive. Charley goes on a mission o hunt him down and clear Reyes' name. What she doesn't realise is that this will lead to one of the darkest and most devastating moments of her life.As always a witty, action packed story that leaves you wanting more. There were parts of it that had me in tears but I loved this book.

Men!
The men in this book keep throwing me for a loop! They're sexy, protective and comforting and then they're just stupid idiots with good intentions. It makes me want to reach into the book and throttle them all. Surprised Charley hasn't lost her mind between Reyes and her Dad. Loving Garrett more than ever though and I hope it's not the last time we see Donovan and the bikers. Great ending. This series just keeps defying my expectations. Highly recommend.

Great characters, great subject
I have been aware of this series for a, long time, but something has always stopped me from trying it out. Stupid me, Darynda Jones has a unique and very interesting group of characters beginning with the heroine Charley aka the Grim Reaper and Reyes the son of Satan sounds like a great source for fun but these books are full of fun, despite the Grim subject matter have some great one, liners especially the t-shirt logos. The story can be read as a stand-alone but it does help if you have read books one and two. For those like me who are unsure the r e is a kindle short called For I Have Sinned which will give you as taste, after that you will be hooked.
