In this 1993 erotic film noir [aka: Deadly Evidence (USA), aka: Body (France)], wealthy older man Andrew Marsh dies after watching his own homemade pornographic tape. The main suspect is the woman who has sex with Marsh in the film, Rebecca Carlson [Madonna], who after being charged with murder is represented by lawyer Frank Dulaney [Willem Dafoe] and soon begins a sado-masochistic affair with him. But did she actually love Marsh, or, is she simply an out of control dominatrix after his $8 million fortune?The entire case actually revolves around Rebecca’ alternative lifestyle, attitude to sex and the age gap. Filmed in a 1940s ‘gumshoe’/court-case style [without the typical narrative voice over] which is reflected in the fashion and dull colours used. Madonna convinces as the cold, emotionless and steely suspect at the start but soon reveals herself to be a dangerous femme fatale and it becomes difficult to tell who’s playing whom due to the many good twists and false leads.The disc opens to a 4 language selection [English, Francais, Italiano, castellano] before a main menus which is a pictoral one, not text driven, offering play, scenes, audio [as language but with Polski] and HoH [English, francais, italiano, castellano, nederlands, norsk]. Rated 18 this is the ‘unrated’ version containing zoomed out scenes showing full frontal nudity, frank discussions on sex and s&m practices, profanity [including the F word] and with a very explicit ‘oral’ sex scene, this is very much late night viewing, but unlike most in the genre, has a very strong support cast and a good plot as well as being –dare I say it, actually erotic, being voted number 4 in ‘Maxims’ list of sex scenes in 2000. Great ending.

this movie is strictly for adults, its full of sex. that out the way, i can honestly say i enjoyed it. Madonna gets stick for her films but over the years this film has become loved by the fans. yes its far fetched and ott,but its not worth getting heated over. Madonna plays ms carlson well and i thought she dealt with the script the best she could. Madonna leaves it all out there and cant be criticised for going the extra mile.

I still remember the newspaper review of this utter rubbish; ‘Madonna portrays all the sexyness of a rubber chicken’! Yep, gotta agree with that. But we all like our guilty pleasures and the dreadful script along with awful performances makes it a good un for a bit of Sunday night nonsense

DVD does not work

Found it to be a bit contrived .

This is on the face of it a rather budget version of basic instinct. However Madonna acts rather well in this and holds her own against Defoe.The plot is very very basic (did she/didn’t she commit murder) it’s the sexual tension that is actually worth the look.

It was ok...Could not get into it.But it was ok to watch..Will buy more when I see them

Non sono un appassionato del genere ma è tra i miei thriller-giudiziari preferiti. Inutile dire soprattutto grazie alla presenza di una Madonna provocante più che mai. Ne vale l'acquisto solo per questo. Il film comunque dispone di un buon cast, bravi attori come Willem Dafoe e Julianne Moore, ma sono presenti anche altri volti noti. Un film da avere nella propria collezione.

Une Madonna qui est au sommet de son art dans ce film, à ne pas manquer.
