Now, this might be a it emotional but my Bella was 15 toy poodle joy she was a super dog, she was the family referee, she decided who came in and who needed to be watched while in my home she was like having an extra pair of eyes while I was in the kitchen eytra ears for what was going on upstairs. Hubby has been seeing a cardiologist since he got heart valves 8 years ago from a freak infection. Because of the valves, he needs to take warfarin (blood thinners) daily. One of the things they tell you to do is to watch your dark leafy greens intake because of the vitamin K count in the greens. Well, the leafy greens also contain magnesium which your body (especially your heart) needs! After considerable research on my part when hubby went into arterial fibrillation (a-fib), we found two things (I'll get to that in a moment), but first an explanation of "a-fib" in case you don't know what exactly that is. It's when your heart starts beating extremely fast and it doesn't slow down. The usual hear rate is between 60-70 beats per minute. Hubby's was around 100-120 BPM (beats per minute). It causes wear and tear on the heart if not lowered fairly quickly. We did the responsible thing and saw the cardiologist who put him on a pretty strong drug that had a significant amount of side effects (they pretty much all do!) so we wanted to find something natural so we could wean him off as quickly as possible. What we learned from the cardiologist is that people who take blood thinners usually have a-fib, too! Duh! The hawthorne berry helps to regulate a-fib and the magnesium keeps the heart rate where it should be. Does it do it immediately like the drug?... probably not. It takes a while for the natural stuff to kick in and we monitored his heart rate day and night while we were lowering his dosage of the drugs.
