The QT line is the ultimate bath fan solution for today's homes. Select a QT Series fan/light to bring simple elegance to any bath or powder room. By sight or by sound, you'll barely notice a QT fan. Except, of course, when you need just the right amount of ventilation and light at the touch of a switch.

A decent bath fan for the price
A decent bath fan for the price. I replaced a 30 year old Nutone fan with this one. I chose it because of the "easy" retrofit. I still had to work from the attic side because the 3 inch vent pipe had been cobbled in there and it would have been difficult to attach it to the new fan from below. Since I had to work in the attic side I replaced the 3 inch with a new 4 inch vent pipe. If you plane to install this fan be extra careful with measuring through the old fan ceiling hole to locate the rafter and lay out the new hole before cutting the new hole. There is not much margin for the fan plastic cover if you ended up making the hole too large. The fan's noise is noticeable but in no way too loud or obnoxious. It is quiet enough that you cannot hear it unless you are in the bathroom near the fan. It is quiet enough that I had to prove to the wife that it indeed was working. I taped a narrow strip of Kleenex onto the ceiling near the fan to demonstrate that air flow was there.

Great option to prevent compressing blown in attic insulation.
The QTRE80R worked great to replace an existing bathroom fan without the need to crawl through the blown in insulation in the attic. I actually used this to replace a cheap 9 year old fan/light that had the bearing fail in the motor and was actually lower airflow then code for my bathroom (45CFM instead of 65CFM minimum). Since I needed a Fan/Light combo not just a fan and also needed to be able to install it all from the room side I did some research and saw all the parts are the same except the metal housing (which is modified so it can be installed from inside the room) as the QTRN080L which I also purchased. I then moved the Wire Panel/Harness Assembly from the QTRN080L housing and into the QTRE80R housing and took the Grille Assembly and Lens from the QTRN080L and I had a Fan/Light that I could install without needing to venture into the attic. This of course left me with another complete Fan kit equivalent to an RN80 that I'm sure I'll find a use for later. The installation took me about an hour with about half of the time used to remove the existing fan.Note be sure to mark the drywall cutout carefully since you need the full cutout to install the housing but the Grill Assembly is not much larger than the cutout so make sure it is square and not too large or it won't be covered by the Grill Assembly.I now have a quite Fan/Light that moves enough air and did not need to compact my blown in insulation in the attic to install. If you need to install a new or replacement fan without crawling into your attic I recommend this kit.

Very good, but could be slightly better.
Better installation instructions would be nice. For example no where does it say that the vent adapter can (and should) be removed to make i installation/deinstallation easier. Also, why isn't the entire mounting bracket square? If it were square, you could mount the fan in any of the four directions, but it is rectangular so you only have two choices.PRO: Very quiet. Good volume of air is passed.

Easy to install
Great fan for a small bathroom. Easy to install. The original hole was enlarged to the right size then I was able to reach up into the attic and install the supports between the beams. In fact, the entire fan installed easy without climbing into the attic. I sealed it up with HVAC tape to stop any drafts or insulation from dropping out of the attic. The hardest part was cleaning up after the job. I plan on buying another.

The Best Fan ever
I just finished updating our main bathroom and it turned out very nice. During the remodel/redo process we decided to replace the noisy cheap fan that was in the bathroom with a new quiet fan. I went to Home Depot and bought a nice fan, brought it home and discovered that I would need to access the attack while another person was below. Our attack space is small so off I went to search for a fan replacement that did not require a visit to the attack. The Broan NuTone Retrofit fan fit the as far as not having to go up in the attack but it was pricey. The cost of the fan was double the price of the Home Depot model. I decided to take the plunge and ordered the fan. When it arrived I read through the instructions (easy to read and understand) and started putting the fan in place. I was done in just over 1 hour. It would have taken at least 4 hours to install a standard fan and a lot of hassle.I plan to replace our master bath fan with this same model. It is so quiet I can't hear it!

Significant improvement to old noisy fan
Nice and quiet as advertised. 4 inch vent eliminates all shower fogging. Very good for retrofits without attic access. You probably will have to put a electrical box in space to extend wire. Watch the video and read instructions a few times.

Only option for install with no attic access
Easy install, nice and quiet, moves air fine. Can't believe there aren't more options for replacing fans when you don't have access from above and you don't want to have drywall repair.

Cheap-o parts and cumbersom assembly, but pretty darn quite
Some good:It's pretty silent modelSome bad:- Mounting bracket for the exhaust piping and the back-flow valve is a cheap-o thing tin and plastic junk. I don't know how many times I had to re-install it and re-install and re-install it during the installation.- Instructions and illustrations are way too generic. So if it's your first fan (re)install, don't trust the pictures, you need to figure it out for yourself- Size: It's rather large. My 1970s fan was like half the size and twice the draw... and yes, it was much louder than this one, but really, why should new fan have to be so large? (what I am trying to say, make sure you are ready to cut into your ceiling)For $200 model one would expect a bit better quality of parts and better fitting instructions.Perhaps if you are not installing it yourself, or familiar with the process - go ahead, otherwise it is kinda 'blah;'
