My favorite and most frustrating socket set!
Update: I went ahead and ordered a 13mm shallow (Gearwrench 80207) off of eBay. It fits perfectly in the box. I was also able to squeeze a 1/4 swivel adapter. With those two additional items (and the mid length extension) I already added the kit is perfect. The only one that is a tight fit is the swivel. Honestly if the price is right and you want a small set for your road trip bag and you don't mind an extra 5 or so for a single socket it's a great set.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I would easily give this set 5 stars except half the time when I go to use it I have to say ARGGHHH! why would they not include the 13mm shallow. In case you don't pay close attention while the deep goes all the way to 14 without skips, the shallow only goes to 12mm without skips. Every time I pick up this set and realize i need a 13mm I have to hope that I have enough space or else I will have to grab a wrench instead. I would gladly give up one or 2 of the smaller sockets in either shallow or deep or even the 14mm deep in order to go all the way to 13 in shallow. The sockets themselves are great, and like them better than most any of the others chrome sockets I have (Tekton, Craftsman (old and new, don't bother with the new), Proto, Williams, Crescent, Harbor Freight) and nearly as well as the Snap-on. The relieved corners on the inside, dished opening, the tapered body on the smaller ones, the knurled lines on the metric and big easy to read sizes. The sockets fit great on all my ratchets and extensions and I even like the fact that the opening on the deep sockets is only broached part way in so you can use them to spin the nut on even when you are using a deep socket. I thought that might get annoying but I rarely if ever have a nut part way down a fastener where I want it to float in the middle of the socket, that is mostly just what happens with other sockets. The bolt passes right through the rest of the hollow center so it works like you would expect it to.I picked up this set for the box since I wanted to have both shallow and deep metric sockets in my truck and I have a 1/2 set I keep in my cordless impact bag that picks up on the big end. The box is super small for all the sockets it holds and fits in my tool bag perfectly. The spinner handle is one of the better ones I have that don't have a pass through extension at the end of the handle (although if gearwrench were to adopt that they could almost eliminate the long extension) it has great grip and feels good in the hand. I love the feel on the extensions they include but find a need for a mid sized extension often so I put a Tekton extension in the box it sits right on top of the chrome shaft of the spinner handle.I knew going in that the ratchet included is the smaller 80 tooth instead of the long one shown and I don't mind that at all it feels great, its probably the best of the small 1/4 ratchets I have. It feels sturdy and its super low profile and works great in small places. The extra space at the end of the handle in the box seems a waste, perhaps they could re-work the box to include, say, a 13mm shallow. If I can pick one up I will add one and just store it in the box, it actually would fit at the end of the handle slot, it just irks me enough that I always find a need for a 13mm that I can't give the set 5 stars. Almost, but not quite.

Review after 6 years - highly recommended
I paid $59 for this in 2015. I have used it many times for smaller projects, on my motorcycle etc. In brief, this is very good quality, and at that price, this is a steal.I normally buy high-end German tools that cost many times more, and even when keeping that standard in mind, this is a good set. Obviously it's not as nice as a Stahwille at 8x the price, but in all the parts that matter it comes very close. The good:The ratchet is well made and feels precise. It has a lot of teeth which is convenient when you don't have a lot of space to work with. The sockets are precise and the size is stamped, so it won't wear off. The chroming is done well and does not flake off. The set is arranged logically in the box and has all the parts and sizes that you'd expect from a set like this. The so-so:The only part in this set that isn't great is the red "thumb ratchet". The ratcheting action isn't as smooth as the one on the normal ratchet, and it has quite a bit of play. The blow-mold case is decent but not awesome. Things do not move out of place when it is closed, but it is a bit rattly, the live hinges won't last forever, and the size markings are hard to read because they're black-on-black.The bad:I can't find anything bad about this set.

Perfect - Just what I was wanting.
I feel in love with Snap-on's 1/4" drive socket set years ago. The dainty little ratchet and sockets that you could fit anywhere, but they were every bit as strong as my 3/8" drive set.I also loved using that set because I never overtightened and broke bolts when using it. Something about the small size, kept my ape hands from twisting up steel. But as much as I loved the Snap-on set, I just wouldn't use it enough these days to justify the $300ish price tag. This set has everything that I loved about the Snap-on set, but sans the hefty price tag. Is it every bit as good as the Snap-on set? I seriously doubt it, but it you blindfolded me I couldn't tell the difference. These seem to have more than enough strength to stand up to any abuse I'm going to throw at them.**UPDATE - I've been using this set regularly for nearly two years now and I'm still absolutely satisfied with everything about it. Everything works perfectly. Highly recommend!

I own them all.
I've already done reviews on these socket sets in the 1/2" and 3/8" sizes. I own six sets. The 6 pt and 12 pt in all three sizes. That is how much I like these tools. The quality is excellent and I like the wrenches better than my vintage Craftsman and newer Craftsman wrenches. What else can I say? These are great tools and a good value for the money. I've quickly become a fan of Gearwrench tools and have recently purchased their combination wrenches as well.

Good set, Bad case for travel but I fixed it.
I like the socket set and look forward to using it. I purchased this because of the compact size. The problem is the case. When you turn the socket set up on its side or flip it over, half the sockets fall out of their intended place holders. I'll never understand companies that make a case that does this. It's very frustrating for people that travel with thier tools.I did fix the issue by laying 2 small rags flat on top of the set before closing the case.

The go-to set
I bought this and a beautiful, black Tekton set 8 years. Both have been perfect, but this is the one I most often use. I love that all the common sizes are in one, easy-to-carry kit that nestles neatly in my portable tool bag. There are even extensions and deep sockets, for when those are needed. And I'm amazed how often I reach for the knob driver--it's really compact and easy to work with. Absolutely recommended.

Good socket set
This socket set seems quite nice. I paid $59 for it, and at the time of writing it's listed on Amazon at $76. It includes quite a good range of socket sizes, so if you have this and a 3/8 drive socket set, you'll probably have almost everything you'll run into covered. The chrome quality on this set doesn't seem to be quite on par with the GearWrench 3/8 drive socket set I got, as it seems a little flaky on the bottoms of some of the sockets. The sockets themselves seem quite good apart from this, and I've used them to work on airplanes and was quite happy with them. I sold the deep sockets and the ratchet that came with this set to a friend and replaced both with the Snap on equivalents, as Snap on's deep sockets have very thin walls which can get them into tight places. The deep sockets that came with this set had quite thin walls as well, but not as thin. The ratchet that came with this set was also quite nice, and it actually had more teeth and a longer handle than my Snap on ratchet. If you're a DIYer, this ratchet will probably be just fine for you. If you're a professional, you may want to upgrade it eventually. Some additions you may want to make to your 1/4 drive collection after getting this set would be a 12 inch wobble extension for very tricky places, a flex head and/or long handle ratchet, and maybe a converter to allow you to use 3/8 inch drive sockets with this set.The screwdriver or spinner style handle that comes with this set is pretty comfortable to use and may be handy for getting into places the ratchet won't easily reach.Another final tip I have is that this set comes with the socket sizes printed on the case in raised digits. They're not very easy to read, though, because they're the same color as the rest of the case. I painted mine white using a paint marker and as you can see in the photo, they're much easier to read now.

Great product, great price.
I'm very happy with the set that I received, I find these tools to be very reasonable quality for the price And they remind me of the old Craftsman product that I obtained an early 90s.I do not have the problem of the missing 13mm socket that has been reported in previous reviews. My only complaint is that the package I received appears to have been dropped before it was blocked by Amazon. The sockets and other items inside were strewn about and there was damage to the cardboard packaging. The case itself however seems to have survived. This is unusually rough handling from Amazon.

Durable - Packaged nicely - Great value
Durable - Packaged nicely - Great value, cannot find a similarly priced 12 pt socket set around. Aircraft mechanic, these sockets take a beating every day and have been holding up nicely. The ratchets are of O.K. quality, I replaced with snap on. However sockets are perfect. Nice case to have them in as well. Would recommend to other aircraft mechanics who cant afford snap on.

Best quality ratchet for the money!
Exactly what I was looking for, 12 point sockets with thin walls when access is limited. The ratchet is of top quality and smooth with its 84 teeth. For anyone on the wall and doing lots of research when buying your tools( like myself) you dont need to worry about this set. I use it everyday as an aircraft mechanic and it passes the test!
