Literally no grain at all on one side, and on the other: a single sad straight streak, culminating in a large ugly black knot that covered the whole 'head' of the cross. Several other tiny knots and pits spoiled the finish. That is not just natural variation, it is poor quality wood and poor attention to detail.The larger knot hadn't been sanded properly, so it was rough and sharp, and spoiled the shape. There were also long sharp carving marks in both 'shoulders'. Not conducive to holding! Overall, poor quality, although the cross was a good generous size, and the parts that had been sanded properly were nicely smooth.

This is a beautifully crafted piece of wood and has given its elderly Christian recipient, a lot of pleasure to hold.He loved the colour of the wood, its unique markings, the size and shape - and its significance, of course.Great value for money and very recommendable.
