Definitely a good rack set.
Holds 2 kayaks well, but I imagine if I spread the racks out I could fit another in the middle if need be. The straps that come with it are decent, but I'll likely use a single ratchet holding the yaks together in the center as well. They look like they are good quality because they ARE good quality.Mounting them was an absolute breeze. Each one has two twist nuts to tighten them down. Also very easy to loosen them and reposition if needed. The paddle holders are nice but the strap is a little hard to release.. and by a little I mean probably more than its worth if you can spare room inside for them..There was no wind noise at all other than if a strap vibrates in the wind no matter the speed. As other reviews have mentioned the top part of the mounting area has no padding so it WILL scratch your crossbar over time I'm sure.. but its a cargo rack so you shouldn't be worried about that anyway.Overall I'd give it a 9/10. Really the only thing I'd want is those paddle straps to be easier to release..

Surprised at the quality for such a great low price.
I am very happy with this purchase. The rack is well-made, solid and easily as well-built as my other much more expensive Thule folding kayak racks on my Outback. I needed a second set of racks for my old Honda Civic, and didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I purchased these. Very solid construction, and designed to fit any style crossbars. I had a hard time securing a 14 foot canoe, but these are great for smaller canoes and just about any kayak. I also like that the entire assembly is small enough that I still have room for my bicycle rack right beside the kayak rack. Great product that gets the job done without breaking the bank.

Good, but it's work to install
UPDATE: I replaced the long clamp bolts with shorter ones and replaced the plastic knobs with nylon lock nuts. I also removed the black clamp plates completely, and it works fine.I have round crossbars on my rack, so some of my comments reflect that.- Mine did not come with any instructions at all. Fortunately, another user posted a photo that helped.- The gear mechanism that allows the bars to pivot up and down is made out of so-so plastic. I imagine it would be the first thing to break.- I don't fully understand the purpose of the black clamping plate if you are just going to use the rack for kayaks. It seems necessary for SUP boards and skis. But not for upright kayaks.- The installation for me was time-consuming and challenging. I could take both my Thules on and off in about five minutes. It took me at least 30 minutes to install these, and I am not inclined to take them off anytime soon. It would actually be easier to take off the whole rack with them attached. Which I might do in the winter.- Part of this is because of the plastic knobs used to clamp the device to the cross-bars. On round bars, you need to clamp the racks very tightly so they don't slide around. This means that the knobs need to be very tight—tighter than that you can do by hand. I needed pliers to finish the job, which took time. Large plastic or metal wingnuts would work much better.- Speaking of the plastic knobs, be sure to tighten your clamp plate knobs tight before installing the rack on the car Once on the car, accessing those knobs is tricky.- As someone else noted, the clamp bolts are a good 1/2" too long and sit a little close to your roof.- A black version would be nice.- My Thules had a little lip on the J hook that made it easier to slide the kayak into the J hook. These do not, so it's slightly more cumbersome.- I wish you could remove the paddle holder if you don't need it.- It does position your kayaks to the middle of the roof. So that means more reaching for those with tall vehicles.- Lastly, I notice several people looping the outside part of the strap through the kayak carriers, as in the manufacturer photos. DO NOT DO THIS. For maximum safety, loop the strap under your roof rack. The roof rack is a much stronger anchor point than the kayak carrier. Top of the loop on the vertical part of the carrier, bottom of loop around the roof rack cross bar.All in all, it seems sturdy, and I like the overall design. The installation is more cumbersome than it needs to be for those with round bars. Thule and Yakima have good clamp systems as comparison.

Delivers as promised
The Ikuram carrier is an excellent alternative to the more common J-carriers. The design allows for compact and secure carrying, on winding roads or at highway speeds. Although I use it for carrying a pair of kayaks, the center bar folds down to carry a larger canoe or similar craft. The installation was straightforward, although the part that connects to the rack is designed for square bars it still connected securely to my oval shaped bars. The connection point has teeth, so to prevent them from digging in to the bar and damaging the bar finish (one-way ticket to rusting bars), I inserted a flexible rubber sheet. On my vehicles rack, there is plenty of space for the securing bolts without risk of contacting the top of the vehicle. I can see how a lower profile rack design would require bolt shortening. The straps that came with the kit are sufficient to do the job, but I can see how some might prefer a different design. It just takes some forethought on placement and some knot tying skills. I tie off one kayak to the carrier, and then loop the straps for the second kayak around the other kayak and the carrier. The anti-skid plates seem to work as promised as the kayak positions have not changed in transit regardless of distance and speed.I would recommend that you check the carrier bolts regularly for tightness as they do loosen slightly with use. The one thing I wish this carrier had was a method of locking to the rack, but I haven't seen that feature on any other carrier.

Great customer service
I ordered 2 of these. 1 box was missing parts. I contacted customer service and they shipped the missing parts. They even followed up after delivery to make sure everything was good. That aside, these appear well built, look forward to using them.
