I bought my cats other, much more expensive scratching pads, which they liked well enough. But eventually they wear out and need to be replaced. At over $100 a piece I didn't want the same ones, but the cheap ones always broke down quickly, and they were too small to support the weight of my chunky girl, who loves to lay on them. Then I found this. It's big enough for her to lie on, and very sturdy, too. The five layers of cardboard make it downright perfect. When one is worn out, I can just flip it over. When both sides are done, I just move it to the bottom and it supports the others. My fat cat loves it (her smaller sister does as well, but she gets chased off when she tries to use it), and sleeps on it all the time. She also loves to just sit there and watch her people. This is the best money I've ever spent on my cats. It's certainly cheaper than new slipcovers! The only thing I'd recommend more is pet insurance- which I sadly didn't buy.

I cannot tell you how much these have saved our lives!!!! Let me tell you how we got our cat to stop tearing things up! Our cat was one who used to tear up our stairs and furniture and no matter how many cat trees we'd have, he'd still tear those other things up! I decided to try these, as one last attempt at stopping the behavior and I was actually impressed when getting them. The box they come in was a good size and they are a good size, light weight and a great thickness! We can even use some Infront of litter boxes to help catch litter. There was no assembly and the clean up is just sweeping or vacuuming because honestly there's no way to avoid some pieces of cardboard around on the floor after a while. Here's how we got him to use these for their intended function: when we first got them, I took some out and gave him the box. Left one inside the box and then I took one, placed it by the couch he tears up and one by the stairs. Then I cracked one in half, which was the PERFECT size to place on the vertical part of the stairs that he tears up. The very first time he went into the box (we gently placed him there) we praised him HEAVILY. Lots of "good boys", head pats and treats. He's very attention motivated, so we'd give him that any time he stood on one or interacted with one in anyway. Then when he noticed we were happy when he'd use them, he started scratching on them and we ramped up the praise. Let me tell you, he hasn't gone for the stairs OR furniture since these have arrived. They function PERFECTLY and I would much rather sweep up some pieces of cardboard every once and a while vs having to get a new couch or carpet!!!

So we have a foster. Our foster is currently insecure and is marking his “territory” with spray/pee. This poor box was his victim. It is built so well that it absorbed all the wee. I used a blacklight to check the floor (tile) and there was nothing! So 10/10 for durability! Yes he is a neutered kitty. That did not stop him. Yes we have feliway plug ins, as well as structured meal and play times. Unfortunately for our situation, this is what nature’s miracle enzyme, paper towels, and patience is for. Lol, hopefully with some time, he will feel differently. Prior to being slayed mercilessly-death by drowning in pee sounds awful-, this poor box endured attempted stretching from my 22lb void sleeping in it, overzealous digging from our universal cat distribution system’s donation orange athlete-he is positive if he keeps digging he will find something, and light daily usage from my wallflower. Prior to fostering, the three musketeers of team murder mittens took turns inspecting, sleeping in, and attempting to destroy this box… as they do with every new scratcher we bring in. This was our longest lasting cardboard unit prior to pee-gate. I also love that it came with extra inserts that you can flip over. 3 out of 3 also favored this over their 32inch lounging cardboard scratchers. During the box’s dealings with the final boss, kitty lemonade…the scratching pad took most of the abuse, then the walls of the box absorbed the rest. Capillary action at work my friends. Capillary action. The only scratcher to outlast this was a sisal tower from kitty city, which I kind of think doesn’t count since it isn’t cardboard. We had that for years before it needed to be replaced. 10/10 would get this box again for its durability and how well loved it was prior to pee-gate.

Best scratching board! Cats really use this one. Place one in each room and next to sofa and chairs they like to scratch. Mine gave up the furniture in favor of this board.

We have 2 adult cats who really enjoy scratching in the boxes with the scratching boards. It helps to keepthem from scratching on the furniture. We have them in many rooms of the house where the cats go. Since they are cardboard every so often we have to clean out the little pieces that are created as they scratch but that's better than having furniture ruined

My cat loves it!!! He got right in the box and started scratching....his long dangerous nails have gone down alot and that was our goal here.

Mein Kater liebt die Kratzbox über alles und verbringt sehr viel Zeit darin. Es wird nicht nur gekratzt sogar darin geschlafen. Ich sprühe ab und an etwas Katzenminze-Spray darauf, dann sind die Katzen auf Wolke 7. Die Qualität begeistert mich sehr. Da ich schon so einige Kratzlappen hatte, habe ich nicht viel erwartet. Obwohl viel gekratzt wird, hält die Pappe aber mehrere Monate und es werden nur sehr wenig Pappkrümel in der Wohnung verteilt. Wenn alle Pappen aufgebraucht sind, werde ich dieses Produkt definitiv erneut kaufen!

This product is exceptional value. Five sheets that are reversible of the corrugated cardboard inserts. Strong and tough and the kitten loves to make it her bed. This is the first stage to her hopefully figuring out that she can also scratch inside it...as for the furniture I used sheets to cover my couch, put items beside the ends of my couch to prevent her access to the couch sides and am hoping in time she will discover how fun it is to scratch this box. There is enough to last her quite awhile. Some reviews sat they tapped the inserts to the wall, but I haven't tried that yet. Thank you for a thoughtful well made design .
