Basic fabrication skills needed

This is not made to fit on a quality bicycle frame made from Aluminum.It seems like a great value for the money. That being said it is a universal kit, which means it doesn't fit anything perfectly. I mounted my kit on a Motobecane 29" single speed mountain bike, but it took some modifications. The first issue was this kit is designed for a cheap steel framed bicycle with smaller diameter tubing. My frame is aluminum which means larger diameter/thinner walled tubing compared to a cheap steel bike. I was forced to use a vice to "ovalize" my downtube just to get the bike's frame to fit between the studs coming out of front side of the engine. Once that was done I had to cut down the rear engine mount yoke in height by about 5/8"(hack saw) and open up the diameter of the saddle for the seat tube (die grinder with barrel sander) to get it to sit in the frame at all. Even though it technically "fit" there was not enough height to install the spark plug boot without a major war and there was not way to use a socket to tighten the plug. There was a huge air gap in the rear engine mount because the angle of my frames' tubes was different than what the kit was made for, I solved this with JB weld. I literally packed JB weld into the air gap to make the mount solid. The next "customiziation" was the intake. The provided stock cast aluminum intake put the carb exactly where the seat post was. I ordered an offset steel "Z" style intake but had to cut that down to an "L" and run the carb facing out and back at 45 degrees. After attempting to mount the exhaust it was apparent that the exhaust went directly into the downtube of the bicycle so it was modified with several "pie cuts" that were welded shut and ground smooth. Once installed and modified it seemed to fire up and operate just fine. I am still breaking it in and it needs tuned because it's rich and a little boggy on bottom and midrange. It is not "quick", there is not enough torque to make this thing "zippy", but it's fun anyway. Sometimes less is more and this little thing is fun. I find myself using it to run down the the dollar store and to buzz around town. To summarize, I feel it's worth the money because t's fun and cheap. Be prepared to cut, grind, bend, beat and cuss. That being said anyone with a can-do attitude and basic hand tools can make this fit nicely on about any bicycle.

Hands down the best bicycle engine on Amazon

Ok. So let me start of by saying this engine is the great. It's my 3rd motorized bicycle and this Zeda motor is absolutely the best one so far. There are a lot of quality choices made by this company that made all the difference. They used steel Allen bolts instead of garbage steel screws that strip. That's HUGE. on to it's performance...Its noticably faster and definitely has more power than an 80cc/66cc. I'm still breaking it in and it's running better than the other engines I've bought. Idles perfectly right out the box and I had no trouble at all getting it to fire up the first time. Now before I get going I do have one minor complaint: the sparkplug was hard to install because the cylinder head wasn't milled wide enough to allow a sparkplug socket...so I had to haphazardly use a wrench to get it in there. Ok ...now on to the photos. I wanted to show you how I mounted the engine because people often don't do this and it's almost necessary. Cut up some old tire of find some sense rubber and put it in between the bike frame and the mounts. It'll cut the vibration down which is very important. Also ...don't use those stupid chain tensioners that the kit comes with. Buy the spring loaded ones on here. They're like 15 bucks. Make sure you buy a chain half link as well. Buy a new chain and sparkplugs. NKG bhf6...(or something like that I can't remember the exact model number of the sparkplugs). I highly recommend you buy a heat shield but put it on as shown here. It'll keep the exhaust from blowing sticky oil all over the chain and tires.(it's not necessary but man does it help tons). The wheels are from bike berry which have the sprocket built right into the hub...but they require disc brakes. Make sure your frame fork is wide enough to accommodate them. If you have a steel frame it's possible to bend the fork out..many videos on YouTube showing how to do that. Ok. So that's it. If you want a great bike motor I can't recommend this one enough. It's solid. It's fast. It's powerful.PS.. and also it's definitely quieter than the other two I've used.
