I have never read a more frightening book.
I don’t frighten easily. Nothing, not firefighting, scuba diving, mountain climbing, and parenting left me as scared as reading this book. The authors describe with eerie accuracy the airlessness of the old stacks in a research library, the wrongness of the collections of things floating in old jars of formalin or piled on the metal shelves in the basements of large museum where dusty researchers seem as unusual as the specimens they study. This books has all of the above plus a great mystery. Just don’t read it at night.Or if finishing a research paper!

awesome
Page turner! Approaches profound questions about eternal life. A wonderful precursor to the Cabinet of Dr. Leng. Can't wait for next book.

A futuristic tale
There are four books in this series, a triad already written and the last in process. A harrowing tale but pushes the reader along. Read this one first, then Bloodless then the Cabinet of Dr Leng and I’m waiting for tha last one…no title yet.

Another great story . . .
. . . but I think Nora belongs in Santa Fe. And though She was not fully the star of this book - it was Pendergrass - I was expecting another archaeological adventure out west, so the city adventure first disappointed me, but truly another great story!

Launched on a New Adventure!
What a thrill to have discovered this series! I had no idea about agent Pendergast when I started reading this book. What’s amazing to me is that a character so strange, so pushing of the envelope of being realistic, could ultimately have such an effect on me that I am immediately going to the beginning of the series and will surely go all the way through it. NPR was so right when it listed this book as one of the 100 best thrillers ever!Be prepared to have your credulity tested a bit. Ultimately I quit caring about most such details because the plot was inexorably pulling me forward. (I can’t help but wonder, however, if there really are old abandoned mansions in Manhattan overlooking the Hudson River. Wouldn’t someone have snapped up such potentially prime real estate on an island with obviously finite land space? I’ll be researching that 😉. )The character development of the enigmatic Pendergast is exquisite. The depth of his intellect, his discipline and his humanity tells me that regardless of the particularities of the plot, I will certainly enjoy following him.

Held my attention all the way through!
I loved the characters, the plot twists, the sinister and brutal M.O. of the murders. We learn quite a bit about FBI Special Agent Pendergast.

Good read
Another great story. Been hooked on these two authors for years. Ever since the Ice Limit. Which should be made into a movie

good read. fast paced. hard to put down
A fast-paced, pulse pounding thriller. Sufficient details to create legitimacy but easy to follow. My favorite in this series, so far.

Aspect Ratio!
Book itself typically very good and well covered in the other reviews. I have given the item two stars rather than the story it contains. Humans usually read paperback books that are 5:8 width to height ratio. This particular book (red cover) is about 4:8 and very thick. Why is this relevant? Well, when you try and read it you find out. A thick, narrow book is quite difficult to hold with one hand and the relatively narrow pages mean that the lines are very short. Again, most humans find 10 long lines easier on the eye than 15 shorter ones. This is what I call a "QWERTY" problem. Things should be made in the format we are all used to using and not some other shape which detracts from the enjoyment of the item or event. I ended up buying a second hand different edition from ebay so as to finish the story in comfort. All sounds a bit pedantic but in a 650 page novel, it got pretty annoying.

The Cabinet off Curiosities: Agent Pendergast book 3 (As always no spoilers).
FBI agent Pendergast investigates when over thirty skeletons are discovered under a building site, the victims of murder over a hundred years ago, murders that were never solved, the killer never caught. Now the killings have started again. There are lots of twists and unexpected turns throughout the book, a really good story and the return of some old characters (see RELIC: Agent Pendergast book1, and Reliquary: Agent Pendergast book2), and the introduction of some new ones.I really enjoyed this book and I think it's well worth 5🌟. I'm looking forward to reading the fourth book in the series.

Blown Away
I chose this rating because this is a fast paced novel that took a crowbar and good effort to take me away from. I read this day and night and it had me gripped, i love Preston and Child I'm gonna be reading another Pendergast novel soon, thank you to the authors, please don't stop writing love your work

A cabinet of suspense
A five star thrill ride with the enigmatic seemingly infallible Pendergast, this time featuring one of his creepy relatives. A blend of history, gothic horror and sacrifice. The co writers make you care about the people in the stories. Briefly bodies from a previous age are found and a seeming copycat killer adds some fresh ones. The New York Museum of Natural History is once again a starring main player and its high heid yins are as culpable and deaf eared or guilty as those in the previous bloodfest, Relic. Prepare to be scared silly. Enjoy!

This has been an absolutely riveting read. The characters and storylines absolutely flawless! I found myself reading into the early hours of the morning looking forward to the next evening to read more. Highly recommended to any fan of the thriller genre.
