Fantastic reimagining of a cult classic with stunning special effects and great plot/characters
I rarely, if ever, bother writing reviews but felt compelled on this occasion to do so. As a fan of the original show I bought the blu ray of the new version somewhat sceptical of how it would work. After literally 5 minutes of episode one I was hooked. Brilliant, simply brilliant in every respect - an original treatment of the basic story, interesting characters and sub-plots, first rate acting and the sort of special effects you would except of a block buster sci-fi programme or movie. Can't wait for season 2!

A complete desaster.
Ridiculous, boring, one big cliché, some of the worst actors I have ever seen in a TV show and even worse scripts. This show lacks everything from humor to believable characters. Not recommended.

good production with equally good story telling
Watched on tv and made my mind up to buy Blu Ray...good series that was well written with very good production quality couldn’t wait for each new episode as the story line always left you with a cliffhanger..much the same way as the original tv series but again a wee bit unfair to compare the new with the old...the old one was good but the new one is great

YOUNGER VIEWERS TARGETED WITH SPECIAL EFFECTS AND EXCITEMENTS
"The Space Family Robinson" are part of the Resolute's crew and passengers, all destined for new life in a far distant galaxy. A savage attack en route necessitates escapes in sundry Jupiter machines, refuge taken on a nearby planet full of challenges. What hopes for them all...?A 2018 family fare remake of the 1965 original. Central to both are young William Robinson and the enigmatic Robot (it friend or foe?).Maxwell Jenkins as Will is a major reason why it all works - his performance applauded by original Will, Billy Mumy. Check out those enjoyable extras featuring the two. Mumy is full of praise for the new version (in contrast with certain earlier devotees who are highly dismissive). Also with substance are Toby Stephens and Molly Parker as resourceful parents John and Maureen, they with issues to sort out. Opinions may differ about Parker Posey's evil manipulative "Dr. Smith", an identity she assumed. Genuinely scary or a pantomime style villain?Ten episodes (arguably at an hour each a little on the long side). Perhaps too tame for some (despite those terrifyingly intrusive giant eels and whatever those creatures are in the cave)? Good special effects. Worthy emphasis on family and community values.Overall? Certainly watchable but perhaps not as involving as hoped.

Engaging reboot, for kids and very old kids.
Better than expected, but not as good as it could be. You notice the cheap studio props like polystyrene snow, acrylic ice and plastic exotic plants in the Canadian larch forest when viewed in HD format (blu ray), and nobody breathes foggy breath despite it being well below zero, etc, and in places the dialogue sound levels are muffled and low, and most of the cast are unmemorable nobodies, but overall an engaging and entertaining reboot. Watch out for Billy Mumy cameo. I grew up watching the original series, which pretty much takes a back seat compared to this, and it's probably aimed at people of my generation anyway... nostalgia lovers, but fussy about quality. Could have been improved further if they'd followed the example set by Star Trek Discovery and gone all out on CGI and hired some more camera friendly faces.

One of the best series.
Very good series. Shame they have only done a couple. Probably the cost, as the cinema photography is very good.
