Regarding the HiBy R5 Only and Not the R6
I'll leave everything previously stated and add the following information on 09-28-2019:I have re-rated the HiBy R5 5 Stars. Although the Bluetooth volume is considerably lower than on both the R3 and the R6 Pro, it is works sufficiently well, it is loud enough. But that one consideration of a fix will be appreciated. Once I have all of my 4,000 favorites saved, the three-step process of saving to favorites won't be a problem. Until then, I would have appreciated the one step, press the little heart in the lower right corner process.I am thoroughly impressed with HiBy's DAPs. I have purchased the R6 Pro of course in stainless steel as well. The R6 Pro is my idea of the ultimate DAP. The R5 is truly awesome as well and it actually edges out the R6 Pro in my computer room, where I have finally ended my search for DAPs.From now on, I am "just looking"! Two interesting DAPS soon to be introduced are the iBasso DX-160 and the Shanling M6, Shanling's first Android based DAP. I own the Shanling M5s. That DAP sounds as good as the R6 Pro, but in a different way because of the AKM DACs vs the ES Sabre DACs. They are two different but equally enjoyable animals. All three of the HiBy DAPs that I own (R3, R5 and R6 Pro are outstanding products. Now that I am accustomed to the R5 and R6 Pro, I will only be listening to the R3 during exercise through Bluetooth headphones which the R3 excels at. There is a big difference in the sound. The R5 and R6 Pro sound much better to me!Thank you! What follows is my initial impression:I am tentatively rating the HiBy R5 4 stars because it has some program flaws that need to be corrected. The Bluetooth transmission volume is too low. There is no way to adjust the Bluetooth volume as with the HiBy R3. Just make the Bluetooth volume twice as loud or more. How do I assign a Bluetooth codec? No menu screen that I can find. The player freezes whenever I try to save a track to favorites or try to save to a playlist. It does not save the track. Please put the favorites heart back in the lower right corner. This player is a close competitor to the Shanling M5s but the Shanling M5s operates much smoother. I did perform the most recent OTA update. The R5 is a keeper and I am counting on HiBy to improve the operating experience as I am certain they will. I am a big fan of the HiBy R3, which is so much fun to operate and listen to. I briefly owned the R6 but found it to be too complicated for me.I only listen in Bluetooth mode and I prefer using the new HiBy UAT 1.2M format as it is received as LDAC High Priority and it transmits all over my home without break-up. That is how I listen to the R3. I will not be using the R5 too much until these issues get corrected because these deficiencies erode my pleasure in using the R5.After HiBy corrects these early issues, I will gladly re-rate this item 5 stars. It is a handsome player and knowing how much I enjoy the R3, I am sure HiBy will improve the operating experience. I purchased the R5 because of the dual Cirrus 43198 DACs. I also own the OPUS 1s which sounds so distinctly bright, warm and crisp but the OPUS does not have Bluetooth, let alone the many available codecs with the R5.I am certain HiBy will come through with improvements to make the R5 as stellar as it is capable of being. Here is an intermediate update on 09-23-2019: I turned my amp up to 2 o'clock and as long as nothing else is input to my receiver, I am very impressed with the sound. I have the R5 in my computer room transmitting to an Auris "Amplify" Bluetooth receiver and that is feeding a European Pioneer SX -757 stereo receiver.I had been substituting a Pioneer XDP-100 and an OPUS #3, transmitting them to an Auris BluMe, standard aptX receiver. The XDP-100 has the aptX standard codec, the OPUS #3 has no advanced Bluetooth codec. I have the bluMe input into the same Pioneer SX-757 receiver, just a different input as there are several on the older receivers from the 90s. I kept switching between the OPUS and the Pioneer DAPs because they both sound excellent, playing them both through the BlueMe/ Pioneer SX-757.Then I substituted the R5. I won't be going back to either OPUS or the Pioneer for a while. The R5 has the sound I am looking for in this listening space. I still have the Pioneer out and running so I can continue to compare the sound to the R5. It's really no comparison. The R5 sounds clearly superior (it is being received by the Auris Amplify, which has LDAC, aptX HD, end everything else except the new HiBy UAT). Most impressive sound!I highly recommend this player, even if they never increase the Bluetooth output.I may update again if HiBy does anything via OTA updates to improve the experience.

Amazon Music HD’s best friend. Wow!
What an amazing DAP (digital audio player). I wanted to be able to listen to the ultra hd in their full quality and after a ton of research I decided on this player. You do have to update the firmware to take advantage of the majority of the ultra hd quality, but it’s well worth the simple update procedure. I paired these with the Hi Rez audio Pioneer headphones which for $49.99 sound more like $200 - $300 and from an audiophile perspective I fall into the mid tier cost wise. That said, music has never sounded better...wow! With the selection that is available with amazon hd I must say I feel like the value is finally there to stay year a subscriber year round.

Power, touchscreen and audio issues. 3 strikes....
The media could not be loaded. 3 strikes, you're out Hiby. I'm sorry. My wife really wanted to like this. After seeing my DAP, she was wanting one and picked the Hiby. As much issues as I've had with Fiio, eventually the m11 worked out great. This Hiby had issues from the first moment. Out of the box, I couldn't turn it on. I eventually got lucky I guess, and set it up. Google play crashed 7 times before I was able to download YouTube music to test it. On my pioneer a1000, my Monitor 10s, and my DT880 (250 ohm) there was an insane amount of clipping at 95+ volume. This points at the device, not the drivers or headphone. I tried uploading this video and touchscreen issue, but I could only upload one, so I settled on the power issue. Also, touchscreen is hit or miss. Tried setting reverb and took 20 tries to press the button. I reset the device to put it on my wife's google account. Turned it off, then tried to turn it back on, and NADA. NOTHING. It will charge, and that's all. See video. Cool little device, and it claims it can do 580mw @32 ohms. What's the point, if it just clips and sounds terrible, has buggy touchscreen, and most importantly, won't turn on!

Fantastic Player but wifi disconnects
Second Update 12/11/19-- I believe enabling IPv6 on these mesh routers will help with the wifi problems. Updating to 4 stars but docked 1 star beacause support did not really help even though they did respond quickly. Will continue to test unit to make sure this is a proper workaround to wifi issue.Update 11/22/19-At this time I cannot recommend to any users who cannot separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands like on Orbi or Eero routers. Docked 4 stars because problem renders it useless to stream or browse and at $399 to just play files from sd card it is not worth it.Original review:Capable player with a good looking screen .. The unit is responsive with plenty of options through android oreo 8.1.Sound is terrific. However, the wifi keeps disconnecting (actually shows connected with a good signal) or it just stops streaming or downloading. Switching wifi off then on again fixes this problem temporarily. Sometimes I have to reboot the R5 to clear this. Additionally the bluetooth range is a bit shorter than expected-maybe 10-12 feet and dropouts start to occur. I docked one star due to these issues. Amazon could not exchange it so I had to refund the unit and rebuy it . Will update review when I receive it.
