Great overview and I learned a lot!
My job has changed recently and I have been on a mission to learn a lot of new skills. This book provides an easy to read guide and I have learned a lot from it because of the broad overview and simple explanations. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is working with data and needs to understand how all the parts fit together. Other books I have read lose the overall picture in lots of detail. This one provides enough detail to support the overall understanding but not drown the reader. I also like the way it starts from the basics of how data supports the business rather than that data is IT owned and stored in databases and data warehouses. The diagrams are very clear although I think some could do with a little more explanation.

Written in an easy to read style and full of clear diagrams
This book is a MUST have- it will answer questions you didn't even know you needed to ask! It's one of those books that you will keep for future reference; it is full of advice on understanding most of an organisation's short falls in IT. It does what it says it will do, it helps you to navigate your data architecture landscape regardless of the company you work for. Written in an easy to read style and full of clear diagrams, this is finally a book that is both informative and enjoyable to read! Would whole-heartedly recommend it .

Great book for those working with data
Great book. So many topics covered that I've encountered over the last few years my head is spinning with questions/comments etc.. the thoughts on big data are excellent. The principles are a great take-away and I can’t wait to try some of the blueprint suggestions out where I work!
