Great for after Moh’s surgery!!
Been using this for just a week for two face scars from recent Mohs surgery and already seeing a difference. I gently press on it throughout the day to help flatten the scars once the silicone has softened them. Color is similar to skin tone so it doesn’t stand out, nice & thin, stays in place 100% between showers, covers scars so it protects against sun exposure. This is NOT the product my skin doc recommended, but it got rave reviews on a Facebook surgery site that I follow. I HIGHLY recommend this product.

AMAZING tape
Check my purchase, it's verified. And I am here to say this stuff is amazing. AMAZING. I read all the reviews of verified purchasers beforehand and thought that while the tape seemed a bit pricey, I'd give it a go. My situation is that I had some surgery a little over 3 years ago and, for the first time in my life, developed hypertrophic scars. For the unaware, hypertrophic scars are caused by an overproduction of collagen (your body apparently gets a woody about healing), causing thick, rope-like, raised scars that stay purply-red. The scars take years to either flatten or fade. After three years, mine were as thick as the day after my surgery and purple colored. To make matters worse, these types of scars can be both painful and itchy. They are NOT keloid scars, so I don't know if this tape would yield similar results for keloid scar sufferers. I had used silicone strips (the washable kind) before, wearing them both day and night and found that little progress resulted. This tape looks like a wide strip in the picture, but it's actually not. It's about 1" wide, so I cut the tape down the middle to yield 1/2" strips, which cover my scars perfectly. I put them on and basically leave them on until they are starting to not stick anymore. Probably something on the order of 3 weeks. I shower with them and everything. It's very sticky tape, so it stays on really well. I've now gone through two rounds of 3-week applications and my scars are amazingly different. Night and day improvement. Not only are they not rope-like anymore, they have also started to fade. They have flattened to the point where I can actually see the incision scar - something I could never see before because they were so ropey. I'm going to keep going with these strips until I can't feel the scars raised up anymore. I would highly, highly recommend this tape for anyone who suffers from a hypertrophic scar and who doesn't want to go back under the knife for scar revision surgery. It takes patience, but of all the products I've tried, and I've tried a lot, this one is without a doubt way, way, way above the rest.

Comparison to scar away
This stuff works great! After reading the reviews for scar away and seeing this product in the recommendation bar, I decided to take a chance on this tape. After a breast augmentation and tummy tuck my surgeon gave me scar away sheets. I decided to put the scar away on my tummy scars and the mepitac on my breast scars. The mepitac tape is much thinner but sill has a layer of silicone. The mepitac tape also sticks better and is easier to cut to size since it comes on a roll. One box of scar away barely covered my tummy scars but I still have a significant amount of mepitac left on the roll at half the price. The mepitac stayed on and didn't fail through scar and implant massage for 2 days while the scar away rolled up and kept coming off or sticking to my clothing. I read all of the instructions and ended up using medical tape to stick the scar away in place. Today before my shower I took off both tapes and lined them up on the counter as many reviewers had recommended. I even used water to rinse off any gross stuff from the silicone sticky surface and left it to dry while I showered. After the shower the tape stuck right back on no problem. I used a cotton ball to smooth it down and remove any excess moisture left over from rinsing it. The scar away tape had to be taped down at the seams with medical tape because I didn't have the same faith it would stay put after two days of pushing it down. The biggest difference was in my scars! The scars under the scar away tape looked unchanged after two days while the scars under the mepitac tape were visibly flattened! I used no oil or scar treatment cream other then a very thin layer of polysporin. I'm 14 days post op so my scars are very new! This was all I needed to know to buy two more rolls of mepitac and know it will be great for the rest of my recovery. I can't wait to show my surgeon the difference in both scars at my appointment in a few days. Highly recommend this product!

Good tape
I was recommended to use this brand tape by my surgeon. Works great! I've reused it for a couple of weeks now and have had no problems.

I gave it a 4* because it is way better than the Scar-Away type pads Now those pads are ...
I am surprised by the low ratings people gave this tape, but not shocked at their comments. People you will not see the results you think you will in 2-4 wks! scar pads take longer then that on new scars and twice as long on old ones but this tape does work. I gave it a 4* because it is way better than the Scar-Away type pads Now those pads are thicker and have a nice clothlike backing but this tape...well, I have a scar that goes across my chest from the farthest part of my armpit across to the other. over 2ft long. I was using an entire pack of Scar-away pads and they were bunching and falling off. Don't get me started on them not sticking because of a single drop of sweat or oil on my skin. This tape is way better to apply to a long scar and it sticks better. I have kept it on and showered!!! Not possible with the other ones. I will say getting it wet wasn't the best Idea. The next time I took it off a little bit of skin came from a spot I believe a drop of water got under. I now make sure it is 100% dry at all times. washing the tape and hanging it to dry is easier than individual pads as well. My doctor saw me for a 2 month checkup and was shocked. Like the other Black person mentioned, yes there is a little bit of darkening along the edges of the scar (which is still reddish pink for me). I am medium toned and barely noticed it until her comment made me pay attention. Even with the darkening, my doctor says the scar looks lie it's 2 years old not two months. I have been sleeping in these things and wearing them all day. So the proof is in the Doctor's words. I took one star away because they are very thin and if they fold over it's difficult to get them flat again.

Would recommend
I was having no luck w silicone strips from scar away. They came off easily and would leave a rash, very rough. This tape stays on a long time, waterproof, and gentle on skin!

Rash within a few hours
Bought this because I read it can be used on scars. Have keloid scarring after double mastectomy. Came badly packaged and gave me a rash within a few hours. Won’t use it again.

Great scar-reducing tape
I've tried a couple of other brands of silicon tape as well as silicon gel but this is by far the most effective and convenient solution. I used it on my chest scar from open-heart surgery. Left it in place for as long as it stayed adhered before replacing it, and I even showered with it on. I had to ensure continuous coverage for months but the results were worth it. Some of the scar is now barely visible and the rest has greatly reduced in lumpiness and has faded considerably.
