Patrick's Dinosaurs

Great story idea & wonderful dinasaur pictures.
I have young grandchildren that love dinasaurs. This story is special because it shows a young boy's big imagination. One of the best parts are the wonderful realistic dinasaur illustrations and it gives accurate information about dinasaurs & shows how large they would be if they roamed the earth with us-brontasauruses as heavy as 10 elephants, stegasauruses as big as cars roaming streets, tyranasaurus rex even taller than a two story house. Yet this story is not scary to young ones. Afterall dinasaurs lived a very long time ago. My grandchildren ages 5-7 enjoy imagining what it would be like if dinasaurs were with us today.

Then and Now
Love the book. It introduces the idea that some animals that children are acquainted with are ancestors of dinosaurs. A favorite of kids who love dinosaurs …I especially like the T-Rex looking in the 2nd floor window.

An excellent book
Patrick is a boy with a vivid imagination. While at the zoo his brother talks about how much bigger dinosaurs were than anything at the zoo. Patrick sees the dinosaurs his brother describes. They are attacking the alligators at the zoo. They are waiting at the stop light on the road home. A T Rex is following them home. He is worried about just how large they are. Can it reach the second floor? He is afraid. Once at home his brother reminds him that there are no more dinosaurs. Relief. It is a great concept that builds a little tension thru the story. This makes it rather exciting. I can read it with that kind of scary voice. Then when we remember that dinos are extinct , whew! This is a classic book. Every kid should have a copy. I highly recommend it.

For the little Patrick in your life
I bought this book as a baby shower gift for a friend that’s naming her son Patrick. They were very excited about the book and thought I got it custom-made. The only thing I don’t like about the book is I wish the colors were more vibrant other than that it’s great.

FINALLY
I used to watch the cartoon version of this book as a kid & could not remember what it was called for the life of me! I've been looking for it for years! I'm so excited to finally have a paperback copy of my own. Thank you!

Flashback to my childhood!
My Grandpa gave me "What Happened to Patrick's Dinosaurs" as a gift when I was a kid. It was one of my favorite books, and I still have it. I had read it to my son several times and then found out that it was actually the 2nd of two books! I bought this for him as a gift and we have enjoyed it several times over together!I love the illustrations in the two books! If you have kids that love dinosaurs, this is a must have!

Why blue ??
The picture of a book in the page isn't in blueish tones , why paperback is blue? I have another book "What happened to Patrick's dinosaurs" that was my husband's when he was a child and it's in warm colors. Paperback too. Why this one is blue??

Fast delivery, good condition, book it as great as we thought
Prompt delivery, and the book was in great condition. We already had the second book "Whatever Happened To Patrick's Dinosaurs?" which is one of our all-time favorite books (whimsical and fun, with great illustrations). This is one of the rare cases where we didn't like the first book nearly as much as the second. In Patrick's Dinosaurs, the older brother describes dinosaurs to Patrick, who fearfully imagines them lurking in the modern world, ready to swoop, charge, trample and gobble him up at every turn. I would recommend the funny and charming second book over the first one, especially to anyone who has an easily scared child (like mine).

We have this one as well as the sequel: What Happened to Patrick's Dinosaurs
My three-year-old son loves both books, my six-year-old daughter as well. She noticed the slight difference between the look of the older brother Hank from one book to the other though.

Colours are not as they appear in product images.
While the product image (and my memories) of Patrick's Dinosaurs are of a sepia-toned book, for some reason the paperback version actually features BLUE / PURPLE colour-filtered printing. It's MUCH harder to read in a darkened room (bedtime stories), so I wouldn't recommend purchasing it if you're a fan of the old version.
