Yes, The journal is leather, a thin leather, it does give a "buttery" feel as someone else stated in their review. The clasps on my 5 I purchased as gifts were nice and lined up. No smell on my books and the Threading of the leather seemed to be bound nice & tight. The Heart eching on the front cover looked very nice and symmetrical. The first appearance and photo's were nice. It was when taking a closer look at the Paper booklets inside, One of the books had less paper than the others, the binding of the paper had a strange separation in one of the booklets inside. The "tie" that held the booklets together is very thin, I read in the description that the booklets are "refillable" and then I read in the questions it was not. Once I viewed the "Tie" of the paper, it did not seem easy to refill. The paper itself appears to be either homemade or recycled paper, either way it gave the rustic feel to the book. There were more "Cons" to the use of the book then "Pros" is why I provided a "3 Star review". When I purchased I paid the higher price than the $14 they are currently priced at. $14 seems to be closer to the price that they should be marked at. Of the 5 I purchased I kept 2 Journals. I returned 3, very disappointing, since they were to be gifts. I will be more savvy before I purchase this type of Journal

I purchased this after it was marked down considerably...maybe one of the reasons it was marked down is because it has what looks like water marks on the cover. And more distressed-looking than appears in picture. Still believe it's a good deal though at less than $14 so I gave it five stars.

I LOVE IT. It’s exactly what I was looking for. It’s a classic leather bound journal. The pages are aged in a beautiful way. I highly recommend this product. I will be purchasing another once I get this one filled up.

Love this journal, it was a little smaller than expected but besides that it's great! I see a few people say it stinks but I think it smells good, if you like the smell of leather then you'll like how this journal smells!

I really enjoy this journal. It is quality and I believe it will last many years. I am filling it with memories nto pass down to my children and I believe this one will last.

The odor from this product was overwhelming! Like some chemical, so I put it in the smoking room to air it out. I may use it eventually, when smell has subsided. Disappointed.
