An excellent tool-free 3.5" drive caddy
Very happy with this, which works nicely with a 6TB WD Red NAS drive connected to my Dell XPS 9560 laptop, and also to a smart TV to play some mpeg videos. The slide-open cover works well, and the drive, though a very snug fit, pushes in quite easily and connects positively and reliably. The two case halves do come apart easily if necessary - just pull one side outwards gently to disengage them.I haven't had any problems with overheating, with the drive and case getting only slightly warm even after long periods of activity (e.g. playing a video). The 10 minute sleep timeout works well for me on Windows 10 even with Explorer open on the drive, with the HDD powering down and the blue LED going out (though an option to disable it would be good - not sure if I can do that with SMART settings on the drive?). Spin-up again just takes a few seconds as expected.Only a few very minor criticisms, certainly not enough to lose an stars:1) The blue* activity LED shines up quite brightly through the mesh top as well as through the indicator on the side. Opening the case by separating the two halves reveals that the LED is just soldered vertically into the i/f board and points up towards the mesh rather than sideways towards the indicator - in fact in mine it was even bent inwards away from the indicator lens! Bending it gently towards the indicator has helped make that brighter and the unwanted scattered light through the mesh dimmer (see photo), and I suppose I could put some masking tape over it. It's trivial, but it would have been better if the LED had been fitted at right-angles and ideally had an opaque cover over it, so if you wanted to mask the bright indicator light for any reason you could just put some tape over it.2) The power cable is a fairly short at about 1.2 metres, although the reasonably generous 1.0 metre USB3 cable helps to offset that3) Even more trivially, the lock/unlock symbols moulded into the case are VERY difficult to tell apart unless you get really close - if it had been a wide-open padlock instead of one with just a tiny gap for "unlocked" it would have been much easier to see! To be honest, I think the lock slide is a bit unnecessary, since the case is unlikely to fall open in normal use. [edit: actually it does sometimes! on a smooth surface when you might need to hold the top gently to stop the case from moving around when you plug in the power and USB cables, if the case is unlocked it tends to slide open! Locking it avoids this]Finally, it's not a criticism but there's a self-adhesive foam pad included in the box which seems superfluous. It makes sense for the 2.5" case to pad an SDD, but I'm not sure where I would use it in this 3.5" case - it would look messy inside the mesh (and there wouldn't be room anyway, as the HDD is such a snug fit) and there's a spring at the end to stop the drive disengaging, so I can't see where I would need to use it, except perhaps with a slimmer drive. All in all, this is a very nice case which I would recommend, along with the excellent Inateck 2.5" case of which I have two.* Update: interestingly, the activity LED is blue when connected to my laptop, but white when connected to my TV or phone, so I presume it indicates USB3 or USB2 respectively. That also explains why the LED has three wires not two, as you can see in the photo. A useful feature, so I'm surprised there's no mention of it anywhere in the "manual" or description. I'm guessing it's a blue+orange=white LED, but if so I'm not sure if or when it ever shows orange - USB1, or an error state perhaps?

Very good but the activity light should be on the front of the case
This is a fairly good product. Inserting the drive is easy and it requires no screws to secure the door. But the designers weren't thinking clearly when they put the LED activity light on the back of the case, with the on-off switch and the cable/power ports. Most people, I wager, will want to have it beside their computer with the cables going at the back. But if they want to see the activity light (which I certainly do) they will have to have the drive facing backwards, with the cables coming up from the back of the desk, around to the 'front', which is actually the back.I need to order another housing for another computer and I won't be buying this one again for that reason.Otherwise it's fine.

Good, easy to use Hard Drive Enclosure
Got this to replace a damaged enclosure after reading a number of positive reviews online and I am more than happy with it. It's very easy to use and set up.I am using it as external storage for my Wii U so having it come with it's own power supply is great as that's what's recommended by Nintendo. Having the activity light at the back along with the connectors and on switch also is fine for me as I don't want the distracting light showing. All in all a good, sturdy case that was reasonably priced.A big call out to the customer service from the manufacturer Inateck who helped me sort out some problems I initially had setting up (turns out it was my hard drive NOT the enclosure) and went above and beyond to help figure out what the problem was. Can't praise them highly enough. Tried a different hard drive and it all worked first time with no problems and was in fact really easy to set up and get going.

Good case, wire not flimsy
Was looking for a simple case to use with my 3.5" HDD, this one is perfect. Swapping HDDs is super easy, and the USB 3.0 B makes a secure connection that doesn't trip like the smaller one for the portable HDDs. Overall a great little case, would highly recommend. Use it for my TimeMachine Disk and haven't had any problems with it thus far. The switch for power is also very convenient, and the lock mechanism ensures it doesn't open during transport.

Works absolutely perfectly!
Simple install, works great, absolutely recommended! Only issue is this doesnt support 2.5 inch drives, only 3.5 inch, so if you’re planning on using this in a repair shop, keep this in mind!

Runs hot
Installed 8TB WD drives in this and the similar Inatek aluminium enclosure. This one ran >55°C while the aluminium one ran below 50°C. Am replacing this with an aluminium one and only using this cheap plastic enclosure for nonessential tasks. That said, installing the drive is easy and secure, shame there's no fan!

Neat, Quiet and Functional.
I needed and external HDD for an additional backup for my PC and photos. I fitted a 2TB drive into this enclosure, plugged it in, switched it on and away it went. Showed up on explorer, I set up a backup schedule and its working perfectly. Even after a full backup it doesn't get hot so no ventilation problems and after 10 minutes of inactivity it shuts down. Just what I needed.
