Impossible to unroll
We ordered this for a desk chair on carpet. The size is what we need and the plastic seems sturdy. Please take note: This item comes ROLLED in a box. It is virtually impossible to get it to lay flat. It is very sturdy plastic. We followed all of the directions (let it come to room temperature, tried warming it with a hairdryer, covered it with heavy boxes), but it still has significant "waves" which makes it virtually impossible to roll a chair over it. It's too much of a pain to try to return it. The seller really needs to find a better way to deliver this product.

Are you kidding me?
This mat was delivered rolled up and will not unroll. I have placed boxes that weigh 40-50 lbs and it lifts the boxes off the floor. The other issue is that it will no longer fit inside the box to return.

Great Size, Great build, hard to get to sit flat after shipping
I was very frustrated with the purchase and then failure of cheap mats from Staples. Those types of mats crack and break too quickly and then because of the material I hate to dispose of them when I think of environmental impact. I have only had this one a short time but can state it is significantly more heavy duty and think as I am on standard grade builder carpet which according to the spec is what a medium pile (paper clip measurement per web site). My only complaint is that it has been under desk with many sections weighted down and still pretty good ripples in it from shipping. At this point (3weeks in) I am doubtful it will ever lay flat but will keep and see if time helps.

Comes Rolled Up - Very Tough to Flatten Out!
The chair mat I ordered was 5 ft x 6 ft. It came rolled up and was very, very tough for us to unroll and flatten out. My son put six 75 lb weights on it to try to flatten it out once we unrolled it to a reasonable degree. It took two people to unroll it and we really struggled. We had to leave the weights on it for a week. By the way, the whole time we struggled to unroll & flatten it out, the little plastic spikes on the underside were digging into us. I like the chair mat, but the packaging is ridiculous. We order chair mats at work and they come packaged in a large flat box. I could never have used it if not for my son doing all the work to unpackage & flatten it out.

So far, so good
First, it arrived in perfect condition but,, second, beware: you need a large enough space to be able to unroll and flatten it out before you place it where you want it. Third, you'll need 2 people to unroll it (regardless of the room warmth) and heavy items to hold it down to flatten it. To keep the carpet "picks" on the inside, the manufacturer rolls it backwards. So, be ready to allow it unroll, flatten it, and hold it down for 24 hrs. Otherwise, it's a smooth roll under my chair, but the weight of my chair with me in it (max 150 lbs) creates temporary indentations, so I'm not confident in the extended life of this item.

arrived damaged, hard to unroll, do NOT buy used
The media could not be loaded. The mat was damaged but since it is very heavy it is difficult to return. I had a lot of trouble unrolling because of the way it had been stored. This is the first time I have bought this type of item used. Eventually I got it unrolled but it had major ripples in it which are very wide and high. I tried to flatten it by placing heavy objects on it for two days. It is still very bad but I don't think it can be rolled up again for return. This size mat is very expensive. NEVER EVER BUY A USED MAT!!!

Pain to flatten and install but WORTH IT!
Fantastic, well made mat. Thicker than others I have used, also harder. Spike construction on back seems to be very grippy on carpet (plus). I don't think I would use in hardwood floors but linoleum would be okay. This is shipped rolled up tight. I HIGHLY recommend sitting this somewhere it can flatten out a few days before trying to install. I also recommend installing before your desk is delivered/ assembled. We had one heck of a time trying to get this installed, but once we got it figured out we were so completely pleased with this. One of the best mats I have used.

I would not buy this mat again.
The chair mat allows chairs to make permanent indentions which keeps the chair from moving out around freely
