Great Classic on Astrology!
This book covers all the basics of astrology in a clear and readable manner. It is a perfect primer to more advanced study of astrology and this book should be a part of every aspiring astrologer's bookshelf. It was written decades ago, but it is still highly relevant pertaining to a perfect understanding of the essentials of astrological knowledge and practice. I consider The Modern Text-Book of Astrology by Margaret Hone to rank with the best of astrology books written anytime and anywhere! If you want to learn all you can to become proficient in astrology, this book is an excellent starting point in your quest.Essentially astrology is a complex divination system utilizing knowledge of the Zodiac signs, planetary correspondences and the 12 houses of the Zodiac. The Hermetic Maxim "As Above, So Below" exemplifies the approach and interpretation of astrological correspondences and symbol systems.

It's a good book.
Very good book. I only gave it 4 stars because it does not include any information about the Saturn return or saturn conjunct saturn. The newer paperback version may include it but not the older hardback cover that I received. But it is a good book.

Good no nonsense Astrological resource
So far so good. I love astrology books because they are no nonsense. It's not a fluffy, new age tome and it's not heavy on Theosophy. It is exactly what the cover says it is--a textbook. Mind you there are certainly newer books which cover more up to date Astro data. However this one is good for people who want a broad perspective and an in depth education on an ancient art form.

A lot of information
There is so much information you don't have to purchase other books it's all there. I think every Angel's name is there. Has a lot of detail.

Eternally Relevant and Useful for Serious Astrologers
Cannot get out-of-date as it includes information on all the planets, signs and if you're brave, how to make a chart using an ephemeris and NO computer. My edition has a pale blue cover, not the one in the illustration. That aside, my copy came from my Auntie who had an avid interest in Astrology.I like the way Margaret explains things carefully and without any fluff. She gets to the heart of Astrological principles. I don't agree that this book can age. How can it? The principles of Astrology haven't changed. They way we make chart is still the same and I, personally, like use and write about in my Astro series book/s starting with How to Survive a Pisces, the Equal House System. If you really want to learn Astrology deeply, there is nothing more empowering, but difficult, in making a chart from only using the Ephemeris, and Margaret takes you through all the steps in how to do just that. She even gives a very plausible explanation for the reason 'we' follow Astrology, which will never go out of date.I celebrate her writing expertise, and only wish it were made into a Kindle E-Book so that more people could read it!

Still the only way to really learn astrology
I really enjoyed using this as a second intro to Astrology. While researching material to learn by , some people would tell me it is not necessary as there are computer programs that do the calculations instantly , but I LOVED learning it old-school style and honestly it is still the only way to go if you really do care about your craft. This book was dense with information and interestingly enough I use this volume successfully with a set of astrological dice that i have for divination. Awesome find and i love this volume.

A Brilliant Book
I am currently studying with the Mayo School and this is one of the recommended reading books. It has proved to be invaluable. It is well written and contains all the parts of astrology that the learner needs to take on board. I find everything is written in an easy to follow format and consider this to be one of my 'bible' books for my studies.

Chap.
