You want this for your toilet!
Fluid master is the brand we repeatedly go to for quality tools in plumbing needs. We wanted to avoid the repeated changing out of toilet flapper valves and tank hardware caused by bleach tablets in the tank breaking down those components. This system works perfectly! The cartridges last 3-4 months each, the toilet bowl stays crystal clear clean w/o all the scrubbing you normally have to do. So easy to install, fits in any toilet. Pleasant clean smell with every flush. Protects from mold, toilet rings and I’ve never seen rust. Would recommend for everyone. Cartridge replace is easy: without flushing, simply unscrew out the old cartridge and drop in the new one screwing it down tight. They even supply you with a small ziplock bag for old cartridge disposal. We use in all our bathrooms now. 🙂

Works, without destroying your toilet
With experience over the years trying many different products, I've found that the only toilet cleaning solutions that are effective are those where the cleaning solution actually passes through the flush system (i.e., through the holes around the rim). The types that just clip onto the edge of the bowl are cute, but ineffective at actually keeping the toilet clean. There are many products sold that go in the tank which are effective at cleaning, however, they are harmful to the internal components and cause premature failure that can lead to leaks, and possibly property damage. The Fluidmaster system cleans effectively, without causing any damage to the toilet components. Its design is simple, yet genius. It consists of a small unit that connects onto the refill line, between the fill value and refill tube. The unit accepts a replaceable bleach cartridge and is completely sealed. When the toilet is flushed, water passes through the cleaning system, directly into the refill tube. This water passes through the flush holes and into the bowl, allowing the cleaning solution to be evenly distributed without any of the solution entering the tank. With this system clean water from the tank is used to flush, followed by the water with cleaning solution as the toilet refills. They claim that the bleach cartridges last approximately 3 months and I imagine that depends upon the amount of use. Unlike the bleach tablets you put directly in the tank which will continue to dissolve even without use (and thus the bleach content gets stronger and stronger), the Fluidmaster cartridges only get used when the toilet is flushed. This is by far the best cleaning system I've seen. It's simple, affordable, and effective. If you hate constantly scrubbing toilets, you may want to get this. We tried it in one of our toilets and it worked so well we bought three more. Oh, and if you're worried about remembering to change the cartridges, Fluidmaster has a website where you can sign up for reminders (and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to sell you the refills as well.) You can also get these on Amazon Subscribe and Save at a good price. That's what I did, so when they show up, I know it's time to change them. Also, as a side note, I did try buying chlorine tablets and using them instead of buying the replacement cartridges, as many others have done. While this option may be slightly less expensive, I've found that not to be a good option for several reasons. First, the chlorine smell is unbearable, even if I used only 1 tablet instead of two. Using bromine tablets would probably be better for that issue. Secondly, the chlorine tablets continue dissolving inside the cleaning system, even when the toilet is not used much. I had put 1 tablet in one of the toilets that we do not use much and after a week or so I flushed it and the smell was at toxic levels. I removed the cartridge to inspect and it had mostly dissolved and the fumes nearly killed me. The Fluidmaster refills do not seem to have this problem, as I've inspected all 4 of our toilets regularly while using them over the past year and find that those that are not used much stay intact, while those used more often dissolve faster. This is better as they remain effective for much longer in most of our toilets and I only have to replace the ones that are used more every 2-3 months. I'm not sure what's different about the tablets in the refill cartridges, but I've found it better to just buy them less often than trying to keep up with the chlorine tablets.I can say that our toilets do stay much cleaner using this system, so it has been worth the investment.

Great Product!
This is a great product for getting bleach into your bowl without ruining the parts inside your tank. It’s easy to install. The refill cartridges are expensive to me and waste plastic but chlorine pool tablets in the 1” diameter size fit inside. It’s a bit of work to get the bottom off to refill but the pool tabs last a long time and save plastic and money.

Easy to install and works very well
Extremely easy to install, works very well in keeping the bowl clean / deodorized AND actually does as it says and lasts very close to 3 months (have had so many different items in my past that NEVER last as long as packaging says)Purchasing this as an automatic subscription and use them in both our bathrooms

COMPARISON OF TOP THREE BRANDS
I am writing a review of three toilet cleaning systems I've bought here on amazon:Fluidmaster:Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based tablet.Cartridge is not meant to be refilled.Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom.Cartridge can be modified (I used a dremel) so it is easily refilled.NeverScrub:Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based crystal.Cartridge is not meant to be refilled.Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom.Kaboom:Does not use a cartridge. Bromine tablet refill inserts directly by unscrewing a cap.No odor noticeable in the bathroom. All three of these systems work the same way and all are really easy to install. All of them put a toilet cleaning chemical (tablets or crystals) in-line between the water fill valve and the toilet bowl fill pipe. All of them prevent the chemical from getting into the tank water (so there is no damage to the plastic parts in the tank). All sell refills for their systems. All keep the toilet bowl equally clean for about 1-3 months depending on how often it is flushed.Amazon also sells Pool/Spa Cleaning Chlorine and Bromine tablets, which as far as I can tell do just as good a job keeping the toilets clean as the refills but at a fraction of the cost. I have tried all of the following, each of which provide enough tablets to keep all the toilets in the house clean for 10 years and they are all very cheap:Kem-Tek 177:The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. The bathroom has a slight chlorine odor.Spa-Kem 267:The tablets are too large to fit in the Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor.Tropi Clear:The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges. The tablets fit well in the Kaboom. No odor.Chlorine and Bromine are fairly equal in cleaning ability. Chlorine has that chlorine odor. Bromine is broken down by sunlight. Which is why, on a sunny day, outdoor pools use chlorine. But at night, or indoors, or on a cloudy day, they use bromine since there is no smell.Summary. The Fluidmaster system works but the cartridges are expensive. To refill the cartridges easily requires a small modification with a dremel tool. The cartridge is too small for any tablets larger than 1 inch in diameter. The NeverScrub system also works but the cartridges are expensive. What I am using is the Kaboom system with the bromine tablets (either the Tropi Clear or the Spa-Kem 267) as they have no odor and clean just as well as the chlorine tablets.
