Allen & Heath ZED Power 1000 2 X 500-Watt Powered Mixer (AH-ZED-P1000)

Bought this board to replace a cheap but faithful Behringer powered board that finally burned up after a decade of service, and the A&H turned out to be a major upgrade. Sure it would be nice to have individual channel outs, FireWire, additional AUX sends and so on, but for the price you can't go wrong here. It seems to be built with the same ruggedness and reliability we all expect from Allen & Heath, and the sound quality coming out of a pair of JBLs is exceptional in range and purity. Very clean. The console is sensible with a very short learning curve, the effects shimmer, and the two DI channels sound amazing with acoustic guitar. The USB works both ways with all channels, including FX, armable to the output bus via their own record switch above the faders. Can't think of any cons other than more outs would be nice, but that can be said about any mixer in this range. This board sounds great, looks great, is user-friendly, built to last, very portable, and reasonably priced given its superiority over anything else in its class. No regrets so far and I expect this will be one of the best purchases I ever made.

The ZED Power 1000 has excellent build quality and the controls have a good feel. The unit drives 2 Peavey QW4f with authority for the amount of power available. I have also used the built in sub cross over and output. It worked very well with a Crest audio CC5500 and a Peavey Versaray 218 sub. It has everything I have come to expect from Allen & Heath. I feel firmly satisfied with my purchase!
