Will this work with the 240watt power brick that comes with a dell precision 7740 laptop ?

This adaptor allows you to connect a Dell power supply from an older Dell laptop (with the larger round power plug) to fit into the smaller round power port in a newer Dell laptop (like the 7740).

Will this work with Dell Inspiron 5510?

Not sure. We run dell latitude 3000 series on campus. I use these adapters for adult laptops. I can adapt kids chargers with larger tip to fit.

Dear seller, Do you know how long the tip is? The Dell straight plug is about 8.7mm and fit flush.

The tip is about 1/2 inch. That's about 12.7mm. I'm using it to adapt a large barrel power supply to my Dell 7060 micro PC. It does not fit flush, but it works just fine.
