Bourns Mini Guitar Potentiometer, 500K Audio, Solid Shaft

i thought mini pots were a compromise over the standard pots, but i find these bournes mini pots are as good as any and i've used them several times. they are well made, consistent, and have a just-right smooth resistance when turning. alpha minis are fine also, but they don't seem as well made and they spin much more freely.

I use these pots because they are the mini version (small body diameter) since my guitar body is small and has a small electronics cavity...better fit for the space. However, the shaft specification given here is WRONG at 1/4" diameter. ALL Bourns pots like this for guitars are 6mm diameter shafts, NOT 1/4". I have both measured them and have their specification sheet = 6mm or 0.236" diameter shafts, both solid and knurled. Knobs for 1/4" shaft will fit too big and rattle and situate off center.

No not that kind of pot.......These solid shaft potentiometers are well-made and are smooth when rotated. much better than the split-shaft pots, where when a knob is tightened, one side tends to bend. Bourns is the way to go!

The POTs work well enough. I did like the nice long solder points. Makes it a little easier to get everything attached. The shaft however turns within its housing so regardless of how tight the POT is to the instrument it still spins with the knob. I had to solder the brass shaft to the body of the POT which is not ideal and should Not have been required.

These are about the only solid shaft mini pots on the market. The quality is very high, which I have come to expect from Bourns. The turn resistance is rather stiff which is a good thing. If they offered these in a linear taper it would be even better, but I am not complaining.

Operating great now. Seeing my volume pot was crackling for so long. Had a time finding this mini solid shaft to use with my Ibanez with Nordstrand’s Been using for over a month now with no issues.

Works fine and it is smooth without noise. Has long enough thread for thick wood surface.

Nice little pots. Put them in a diy. Works good. Just order a couple more.
