NIFTY MiniDrive for MacBook Air 13"

The nifty mini drive is very good and useful if you want to increase the storage of your MBA or MBP.I find it satisfactory. it fits nicely in the card slot but there is slight gap on the bottom side approximate of double he thickness of the regular A4 paper. Although the gap is very minor and barely noticeable but I expect it fir perfectly because they charge USD 40 for this product which is just a customized microSD card adaptor. so it should fit perfectly. otherwise buying Transcend Jetdrive lite is good option at USD 70 for 128GB storage.Roopesh

Using this with my Macbook Air and it works great. I store only movies on it to save room on the internal hard drive. Only downside is if the macbook shutsdown or powers down due to low battery then the drive disconnects and I have to unplug and plus it back in again. Otherwise it works great and is fast enough to run movies directly from it.

The pictures and advertisement don't lie for this product. If you buy it for the correct model laptop, it looks like an aluminum port cover installed by Apple with love. I keep a 64gb micro installed as a spare drive on my already emaciated Macbook Air SSD and just use a script to remount it when it occasionally gets software ejected through no fault of this product. Yes, it's difficult to de-stall, but that's the price you pay for streamlined, fluid elegance. The supplied tool works great, but I of course lost it within days. If your mobile relies solely on an SSD and you're constantly fighting for space, you're on the right page to help with that problem.

This worked well for over a year as additional storage, until I tried to remove it.When I used the extraction tool to try and get it out, the facia plastic came off, leaving the frame of the product stuck inside my 2013 macbook Air 13".The glue holding the facia onto the frame of the unit that holds the micro SD card had failed. I damaged my macbook air trying to get the internal portion of the Nifty drive out despite being extremely careful and using surgical steel tweezers to carefully and painstakingly extracting it.Do not buy this product. The benefit of the additional storage is dramatically outweighed by the hassle of getting the unit stuck in your computer and, worse, damaging your computer as a result. Extremely unhappy. Engineering and manufacturing fail.Again, if you plan to leave this in your computer permanently, then you will not have a problem. I have had no issues using the device as storage media, but it fails in it's ability to serve as removable storage media.

Excellent for expanding the memory of your computer. I am able to store and take with me all of my archived files and have the readily at hand.

love the design and concept. but it's not really a seamless experience. more like a permanently plugged in usb memory stick. it's quite slow to access or transfer files (which scares me sometimes as it makes me think i lost them) - it seems to take a while to read all the files, and once it does you can navigate okay but again it takes a while of the drive to read all of the files i think. i wish it would sync with google drive - it does with dropbox, but not sure how efficient that would be because of the speed.

Super device. Doesn't protrude and silver finish matches the MacBook Pro. Brilliant!

I bought the Minidrive through their official website with a 64GB Kingston SD Card, also through their website. I put my iTunes library on the drive. Now iTunes is slow as hell. The music will stop at times like it was buffering from the internet. The SD card has gone corrupt several times. Sometimes iTunes won't even open. It has really been a bad experience.

If you are on Yosemite then every time you close the lid and the Mac goes to sleep this gets disconnected and won't get get picked back up unless you remove it and replace or if you reboot machine. Not ideal! (Tried a couple of workarounds online but none have 100% solved the problem.)

I ordered this and it was delivered direct from Nifty within a few days, which was great service by both them and Amazon. The actual product is brilliant; it fits perfectly into my 13" Macbook Air (remember to order the correct one for your laptop) and looks as though it is an integral part of it. I will be leaving it in place and have just connected my camera direct via the USB slot or will use a card reader to download photos or files etc. I received a 4GB SD card with it and this worked fine when I saved a document to it. It also shows up as an option for backing up via Time Machine. Therefore, I don't see any problems when I replace this with a 128GB card in due course. I am absolutely delighted with my purchase and recommend it highly.

Great little product and works well with the included 4Gb card but I'm having issues with the Samsung Mc128DA 128 GB EU Flash Micro SD Card I bought to go with it (works fine in a normal SDcard adapter), I managed to figure out a work around when using Yosemite but that no longer works in El Capitan and as such the card is read only and I have to force eject it to be able to remove it.Nifty support have been brilliant and sent me out a replacement Minidrive but the problem still remains so seems not all 128Gb cards are created equal.

An excellent way to add a semi permanent storage solution to your MacBook Air. My 128gb SSD now has an additional 64gb. This adapter sits flush ad is silver in keeping with the colour if the laptop. My only gripes are transfer speed and that the I keep getting disk ejected messages - though it never truly has ejected.

Just as I expected - will wait until 128GB micro drives come down in price then I will buy one and use in combination with the Nifty to back up my MacBook.
