Good info, but...
This is a thick book. I was surprised. There is a ton of information in it, however, it's mostly outdated since it is written for Salesforce Classic. With that said, there is good information on how the Salesforce system works and that's one reason I think it's "okay" to have on the shelf. Hopefully, it will be updated to conform to Lightning Experience.

Very well organized, extensive, and helpful prep manual for Salesforce Admin Certification exam.
I have found this to be a very well organized, extensive, and helpful guide for preparing for the Salesforce Administrator Certification exam.Lightning is referenced in several areas of the book; in addition, there is a complete chapter on Lightning Experience which covers differences between Classic and Lightning, benefits of migrating to Lightning, transitioning to Lightning, and more.Be sure to utilize Amazon's "Look Inside!" feature on this page and view the complete table of contents.

Kindle version
Book is very informative and thoroughly written, someone in the reviews mention not being able to see the screenshots on the kindle version .... there are settings to enlarge the screenshots so your able to see what is actually on it. The kindle version is great, I haven't had an issue with it.( I stand corrected the screenshots are not readable even if you enlarge them... would need to update to correct this error in the kindle version.)

Outdated...
Pretty much all the paths and screenshots are based on Salesforce Classic. Sometimes you'll have a hard time figuring out where the things are now in the Lightning Experience. I wish some topics where explored more in depth while other unnecessary obvious information skipped. However the info and tips are useful. To be used in parallel with the Trailhead trainings.

Out of date
Book is out of date. Salesforce is deploying Lightning and Mr Goodly's book addresses their older Rev.

Thinly sliced...
"Definitive"?I got an email asking how many Salesforce Licenses we had... I thought: Ah, good time to use my new "Salesforce CRM - The Definitive Admin Handbook". I went to the index and looked up "Licenses" and saw page 16. I went to page 16 and it listed the four types of licenses. Nothing else. Nothing about issuing, removing, administrating licenses. Absurd...

One fatal flaw on a Kindle
This is well-written and straightforward... however, on a Kindle the screen shot images are **absolutely tiny**... and in the majority of cases are unreadable. The author does supply a PDF file of color screen shot images but on a tablet you can hardly keep a second window open just to view those. So, sadly, this book is not usable.Should you get a print edition instead? Maybe, but I prefer these books on a Kindle so that the text is searchable. With Salesforce as the topic, whether as an admin or an admin in training, you really need to search because Salesforce has numerous obscure items and some you may never see in your company... or some you may encounter and then you'll need to be able to look up info about them. So the ability to search in the Kindle reader is critical. But since this book is not usable in Kindle, I cannot recommend it.To the author: in a future edition, watch out how the images are converted into the Kindle format. Kindle authors of books with images usually end up with them converted poorly. This is a common problem but solvable.
