The unit can be connected to a regular power source, via a transformer and power cord. So far, it is working very well.

Q: Does this product require a chemical attractant or baiting substance to effectively operate?

Yes and no. Will depend on the type of mosquitoes in your area. In my area, the light was NOT an effective attractant. It seems most species of mosquitoes require the chemical lure. Also, the bag that connects to the fan and traps mosquitoes in quite flimsy. Honestly i would not buy the product again.
