I have several manual blood pressure monitors and frankly have had issues with them. They were highly rated on Amazon but I found them hard to use without assistance. I made the mistake of purchasing a couple of different monitors (to double check their accuracy against each other) but I made a mistake. The manual monitors I purchased didn't have the D ring metal cuff. Without the D ring metal bar attached to the cuff I found it very difficult to take a pressure reading by myself. If you have assistance the manual monitors are less expensive and accurate but to handle by myself I just found them very difficult to use.I talked to my Dr. about it and he recommended the Omron brand of monitors. He said the cardiology department of the hospital (A highly respected, nationally known hospital) recommends that all primary care and cardiology doctors prefer and should recommend the Omron brand of monitors. On Amazon they start in price currently around $40.00 and have several other monitors with more features at higher prices. I followed my Drs. recommendation and ordered the basic Omron monitor with the D ring cuff that automatically pumps up the cuff, takes the reading, and deflates the cuff. I believe the readings to be accurate because they ate similar to readings that I am used to getting in the past and I will take the monitor to my next appointment to compare readings with what my Dr. gets. The basic Omron monitor comes with a cuff that should fit most arms and they have an extra large cuff available for those that need the extra large size. Measure your arm if you are unsure what size you need. I have always used the extra large cuff and ordered it at an additional price. When I got the monitor I tried several readings with the standard cuff provided and several with the extra large cuff and found the standard cuff worked the best and seemed to be the most accurate. Again measure your arm to determine cuff size!

I decided to finally replace my old Omron with a cordless, smaller unit and like the size and portability of this model. It's very easy to use, read, and appears to be pretty accurate. I'll take it with me to my next dr. appointment to confirm that.My issue is with battery life. The first set of 4 batteries lasted one week, with daily readings. The battery indicator never shows more that 1/3 full. I tried to contact customer service but they never answer the phone and message says to use website. I sent an email and got a generic answer that the indicator will never show more that 2/3 full. I returned the original unit and just received a replacement. Same thing. New batteries, indicator shows 1/3 full. I guess I'll just have to remove the batteries after each use. For the price, this is a good, small, basic monitor. The battery issue is my only complaint.
