EscaFlowne, Van and Hitomi figures
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. The Vision of EscaFlowne is a 26-episode Japanese anime television series. The series follows a teenage high school girl named Hitomi, who finds herself pulled from Earth to the planet Gaea when a boy named Van appears on the high school track while battling a dragon. In Gaea, she is caught in the middle of a war as the Zaibach Empire attempts to take over Gaea. Van (King of Fanelia), with aid from Allen (an Asturian Knight), commands his mystical mech EscaFlowne in the struggle to stop the Zaibach Empire. Hitomi's fortune telling powers blossom in Gaea as she becomes the key to awakening EscaFlowne and to stopping Zaibach's plans. This is a internet search discription of the plot that these characters are based on. What you get here is three figures consisting of Hitomi in her high school uniform, Van the king of Fanelia and EscaFlowne with sword which is the mech that Van pilots and is what the show is named after. They are pretty well done and for the most part look just like they do on the series (I own both the TV series and the movie that was made). I bought these figures long ago when they first came out at a local comic store. I can't say if they are worth the amount that is asked for now but they were worth what I paid. Being that they are hard to get I'm surprised you can even buy them at all.Van is not overly detailed with his sword being the thing that stands out the most for me. He stands at 4 1/4 inches tall. He is made of pvc and is a statue in that he has no movable parts at all. Hitomi is not very detailed either with the bright red bow of her uniform being the only thing that sticks out. She is also a statue. She doesn't stand up too well on uneven ground as you see in my video. She stands at 4 1/8 inches tall. Now here is where the scale is off a bit. Van is the pilot of EscaFlowne and yet the mech included here is only 6 3/4 inches tall. So yeah he is too big compared to his mech. I think they were not going for accuracy. If EscaFlowne was to scale this would be a much more expensive set of figures. Anyway back to EscaFlowne. This is where this set shines. It has been very well done with much more detail than both Van and Hitomi. EscaFlowne is more of an action figure in that it has a little movement but nothing that makes it posable. It pretty much just stands there holding its sword looking like a bad @$$.Overall it's not the greatest set and is in my opinion overpriced. I'm glad that I got it but I wish now that I had left it in its packaging.Check out my video for more.
